Chapter 6: Minotaur

Minotaur

"Are you out of your mind?" 

Xian sounds furious and confused at the same time. I was kind of taken back when he raised his voice. 

"Ugh, I'm pretty sure I'm not." I answered and chuckled. He seems weary but worried. 

"I thought we just needed to save Inigo?" Margaret sounds worried. 

I know they are all worried but what can I do? This is for our future.

"Yes we're still saving my brother," 

"Why do we need to join an organization inside the island?" Shyna asked. 

"Saving my brother wouldn't stabilize our future," 

It seems like they figured out what I'm trying to say. 

"I think it's going to dangerous for us," 

I know Margaret is just really worried for her son. I wouldn't blame her for that. 

"We've been living a dangerous life since we were all born. For the past years of our lives we've been protecting ourselves and our loved ones by preventing dangerous and unfortunate things from happening. Why are we suddenly afraid of things that could save our future?" For things like this, ensuring their morale is the best way to keep us intact. "I know you're worried about your son. That's why you are doing this right? But don't you want to secure your son's future?" 

Michael held Margaret's hand to stop it from shaking. 

"Look, it's all part of the plan. If we don't do this, the worst case scenario would be them attacking us without our knowing. But if we stay and join an organization inside the island, it would help us to protect ourselves; to protect your son and our loved ones."

To be honest, I don't care if they leave the island after saving my brother. 

"If you don't want to join me, then so be it. I won't forced you to join me in this battle," 

I left the receiving area as I said those words. 

I can do this on my own!

I went inside my room feeling a bit stuffy. I changed my clothes to a more comfortable one. 

I just finished changing my clothes and I just went out of the closet. I didn't bother to stay glancing at Xian.

"Hey," he called me but I remained silent and sat on the edge of my bed. 

I took my phone above the side table and was about to send a message to Red but I saw a text message from him. 

From: Red

I'll talk to my assassins and make a sense out of them. I'll join you no matter what! 

"Hey," Xian sat beside and stopped me from walking away. He pulled me back and I stumbled. 

My eyes widened when I stumbled on his lap. 

"Xian," I called him out but he just hugged me and buried his face on my neck. 

"I will always support you. I was just worried." His voice isn't clear as his face is buried on my neck. 

I sighed and caressed his arms on my waist. 

"I'm sorry for acting that way," there's slight regret in my voice. I just can't stop myself from acting hopeless. 

"I understand. Do you think we will succeed?" He really is worried. Whenever he's worried, his voice sounds too stern. 

"To be honest, there's still one thing that will complete the plan." 

He lifted his head. 

"What thing?" 

"We need the organization of my cousin to cooperate with us. I know Irish would gladly help me, but I'm not quite sure of her members." 

I just can't help but to feel anxious.

"We'll be alright. I guess we'll never know what would happen as we go there right?" 

"What am I gonna do without you?" 

"You'll do a lot of great things without me baby," I turned around and kissed Xian's forehead.

"I love you," I whispered in his ears. He tightened his hug before he whispered in my ear

"I love you more," 

You're not sure of that! 

We rarely cuddle with each other. That's why, we just decided to go down as it's almost dinner. Xian wanted to cook something for me. I want to help but of course, I'll just watch. I'm not really fond of cooking. 

"Hey," 

"Red," I greeted him back. 

I was a bit shocked when the guys appeared behind him. We just entered the kitchen and now they are all here. Xian held my hand as I looked away. I can't help but to stare at him. He nodded and I sighed. 

"We are sorry for acting like that earlier," Shyna started. 

"We were just terrified," Michael continued. 

"I know that. That's why it's fine with me if you won't join me." I said. I won't get mad if they happen to decide not to join me in this journey. But of course, I would be delighted if they would. 

"Nasanay lang kami siguro. Sa loob ng pitong taon, tahimik tayong mamuhay," Margaret said. 

"At nakalimutan namin na, kayo ang dahilan ng katahimikan na 'yon." She continued. 

"You were also there. We won because you were there. You were all there." They nodded. 

"I am going to join your journey Queen," Nicole suddenly said while showing the pledge of respect. "It is my duty to protect you and the King regardless of the situation. I will never forget that I am a Reaper even before anything else," 

"Thank you," I showed her the pledge of respect. I just don't know what to say. 

I was shocked when Jasmine also showed me the pledge of respect. 

My Reapers. 

I smiled and gave them the pledge of respect. 

"Before being the fiance, I am also your Reaper Queen." 

I nodded. There are no words for me to say how much I'm thankful for them. Nicole and Jasmine went beside me. Showing that they really mean what they said. 

"It's going to be terrifying but it's still my duty to this with you," Margaret suddenly said. 

"Margaret you don't have to do this. I understand your situation. You're a mother," 

Lumapit ako sa kanya at hinawakan ang magkabilang kamay. 

"Angel, I was an assassin before I became a mother. After all, it's for my son." 

"If my wife is in this, why wouldn't I be?" Michael said and put his right hand on Margaret's shoulder. 

My eyes widened when the rest also showed me the pledge of respect. 

"Then, we'll get these things done." Red said. 

His assassins showed him the pledge of respect. 

Just like our plan, we ate our food cooked by Xian.

"Tonight, we'll be going to Labyrinth Island." 

I announced. They went silent but continued eating the food. 

Just like my initial plan, that night we used my private plane and flew all the way to the island. 

Red called Irish that we are on the way and she already gave us where we can land safely.

Through the window, I can see Irish with her members. She must be welcoming us.

"Ladies and gentlemen, as we start our descent, please make sure your seat backs are in their full upright position. Make sure your seat belt is securely fastened Thank you." We heard John's voice. 

"For your safety and comfort, please remain seated with your seat belt fastened until the Captain turns off the Fasten Seat Belt sign. This will indicate that we have parked at the gate and that it is safe for you to move about." Matthew continued. 

It didn't take us long to land safely. Our pilots were John and Matthew, they have licenses. 

Our seal belts turned off as we landed. We didn't move until John and Matthew went to our seats. 

"Welcome to Labyrinth Island," Matthew said. 

Michael just laughed and I removed my seat belt. I saw Red doing the same. I can't wait to see Irish. I miss her so much. 

It's been years since the last time I saw her. 

The door opened, Red and I went down the plane. A smile formed in my lips as I saw Irish standing near me, waiting for us to descend. 

She looks matured and different. Her natural blonde hair is more visible than the last time I saw her. Her sultry lips formed a smile as our eyes met. She still has the natural turquoise iris with hazel pupil. I walked straight to her, almost running. 

She welcomed me with a hug. I can't help but to hug her back. I just missed her so much. I also felt someone's warm hug. It must be Red. 

"I miss you," I whispered in her ears. Before I met Anton, Margaret and the rest of us, it's Irish that served as my best friend. We're cousins but our bond with each other is more like a sister. 

She would always tell me about her day and I wouldn't mind telling her mine too. 

The three of us broke the hug. 

"We have a lot to catch up," Red said to her. The last time we saw her was Red's wedding, five years ago. 

"You're no longer mad at me?" Her voice became more matured but there's still a hint of her old voice; high-pitched. 

"I was never mad at you," Red said. 

Right, she ditched her position in the organization for the man he loved before. 

Red hugged her again and whispered something. I saw Irish eyes teared up a bit.

"So Angel, which one is the one?" Irish turned to me playfully. I chuckled when she did that. She's always energetic among us. 

I saw Xian and the rest walking towards our direction. They are also bringing our luggages. They are a bit awkward or should say, conscious. 

"Hey this is Irish," Irish held my arm, stopping me. 

"On this island, I am called Ariadne." Right. 

"Again, this is Ariadne, my cousin and the ruler of Minotaur," I paused a bit before I continued. 

"Ariadne this is Xian, my fiance and beside him is Jasmine, kuya's fiance," 

Irish-- or should I say Ariadne, extended her hand to Xian and Jasmine. 

"Next to them is Alyana, Margaret, Michael; her husband, Nicole, Shyna, Matthew, and John." I continued. 

Her eyes narrowed a bit before she nodded. 

"I'm quite familiar with some of them. I believed we already met before, back when I was an assassin." She said while staring at Xian. "You were there in the war right?" She asked Xian. 

"Yes, so were them." He said pertaining to Margaret and the rest except for Jasmine and Nicole. 

"Jasmine and Nicole are reapers. I believed they were there too, under Samuel's guidance." 

The smile in Ariadne's lips vanished as I mentioned Samuel. 

"I'm sorry I wasn't there," 

"It's okay. You were struggling too." I held her hand to assure her that it's really fine. I'm sure if Samuel is here, he will understand Ariadne's situation.

"By the way, I brought my friends too. They are also the first generation members of my organization." I wanted to laugh as she suddenly shifted the topic. I just nodded. I know she doesn't want to talk about the past. "These are my members and the councils of the organization, Hector, Heracles, Elissa, and Mnemosyne but you can call him Syne. His name is too long isn't it," Hector chuckled when Ariadne said that. I believe that isn't their real name. 

"It's nice to meet you. I am Angel Hamilton from the Red Mafia Organization," I extended my arm and they all accepted them. 

"I'm Red Swansea from the Red Assassins'" Red extended his arm too. The rest of us introduced themselves to them.

"I know you're all tired from traveling all the way here. We have prepared a villa where you all can stay." Ariadne said. 

"Can we leave this plane here?" I asked. A bit worried that someone will notice the plane.

"We can leave that there. It's part of our territory. No one will see the plane you used. We should go, it's getting late."

Ariadne held my hand as we walked out of the woods. We walked for about five minutes and two white vans were waiting for us. Ariadne's member took the other van while my friends took the other van. The guys ride with Ariadne's friend except for Xian and Red who ride with us, the girls. 

The trip on the way to the villa didn't take long enough. I think it was just an hour and we stopped in front of a huge villa. 

The facade of the villa screams elegance. 

"Exactly your taste," Ariadne whispered to me as we got out of the van. 

It has two floors and it's widely open. We can see the interior of the villa through the glass walls and windows. It has a huge pool on the right side and a huge lawn on the left side. The pool is connected on the first floor's interior. 

"This looks like your house," I told Xian. 

This villa really reminds me of Xian's house. Except that it's bigger and the placing of the pool. 

"Do you like it?" Ariadne asked. 

"I love it," I even saw a wine cellar. 

"That's good to know. By the way, we'll head out first. We have something to do regarding your membership. But I'll be back tomorrow," 

Ariadne and her members s***h friends left us in the villa. Ariadne gave us a phone which we can use to contact her or her friends. 

We decided which rooms we will be staying in. Xian and I were designated in the room near the stairs. 

"I'm so tired," Xian said as he put down our luggages. 

"You should rest babe. We have a long day tomorrow," 

Just like that, after washing up, Xian and I immediately slept. I set up the laptop before I slept. 

The next day, Xian and I woke early. We showered and wore comfortable clothes. It was around eight in the morning when we went down.

Shyna and Alyana were cooking our breakfast. Jasmine and Nicole were setting up the table. The guys were still washing up. But didn't take them long to get down to have breakfast. 

Ariadne and her friends are also here.

Good thing the dining table is huge. Another good thing, Alyana and Shyna cooked a lot to feed us all.

"You should have breakfast with us," Alyana said to Ariadne. 

"Can we also eat? I'm famished!" Hector said while glancing at the dining table. Alyana chuckled and just nodded. 

Xian and I prepared the coffee. After plating the rice and bread, we started to eat. 

"We have an announcement to make." Arianne started. "Angel and I have already talked about this. I believe that Angel had already announced this to you. Hence, I only need my council's permission." Ariane continued. 

I put down my utensil. 

"We are joining the Minotaur," I announced. 

They stopped eating and put their utensils down. 

"I thought they would just stay for a while?" Heracles asked. She seems confused. Ariadne hasn't told them yet. 

"That was the initial plan," Red stated. 

"So what's with the sudden change?" Elissa.

"Wouldn't that put out organization at risk?" Mnemosyne. 

"Don't get us wrong Miss Hamilton. We are willing to help you and your friends to save your brother. After all, he's Ariadne's cousin. But we are worried about our organization." Elissa

The cloudy feeling earlier turned into a tension. 

"We know that. But our enemy is the Knossos Organization, their rulers to be specific." Red

"And you probably know that we are not allowed to touch them right?" Heracles asked as if we were joking. 

"We know that too," I said. 

"If you already know that, then why are you still proceeding with your plan?" There's a hint of a sassy tone in her voice as Heracles asked me that. 

"Believe it or not, I understand your worries. I've already told that to Ariadne and she said my plan would be the one thing you have always wanted to do," 

Their brows narrowed as I said that. Ariadne was just eating and not really joining the conversation. 

"If Ariadne agreed to this, then the Queen's plan must be the one thing that we have always longed to do," Mnemosyne stated. As if he figured out what I'm really planning. 

"Don't tell us you're planning too..." I cut Elisa's words 

"Eliminate them," I continued her sentence. 

"We want them dead," Hector said. It was the first time he joined the conversation. 

"That's what we want too," Red. 

"And how do you plan to do that?" Heracles asked. 

I've already got their attention. 

"First, we need to become Minotaur's official members. The recognition from the Olympus will serve as our protection against our enemy as Ariadne and I talked to Zeus. Second, we'll save my brother in the night the party that Olympus holds annually. Third, we need to be recognized by the whole island. That will be our stepping stone to provoke our enemy and it's gonna be fun." 

"Should I come to save your Inigo?" Ariadne asked. "Wait, why do we need to talk to Zeus?" 

Parang ngayon niya lang ata siya nakinig. Ariadne glared at Red as we heard him chuckled. 

"Are you laughing?" Her voice was stern. I laughed when Red choked and stopped himself from coughing. 

"Ariadne, he's the head of Olympus. Aren't all the applicants needed to be assessed by the King of the island." She rolled her eyes when she realized I'm right. "But don't worry. You can just escort me and wait for us. You're the one introducing us to the crowd. You should be there, unless you wanted to talk to Zeus," 

She coughed hard when she heard my last sentence. She's glaring at me as she wiped her mouth. I saw the others except Red, looking confused about our conversation. 

"Hector and Mnemosyne will accompany you to save Inigo. They know the place more than anyone," 

She shifted the topic. 

"Thank you," she rolled her eyes when she saw me smiling at her. "Stop glaring at me. We're in front of food," I teased her more. "They probably didn't know about your relationship w--" I cut my own sentence when I saw her lifting her bread knife. "Fine I'll stop." 

I continued eating my food. I don't want her to get pissed and slit my throat. Just kidding. 

But kidding aside, she's scary when she's mad. 

"We'll proceed with Angel's plan. We will eliminate the Knossos." 

Ariadne suddenly dropped her words.
