You've always found time for me

752 Words
We spent every Saturday, every week of the year together. Even now. Phillip said he'd come later, so I stopped by the library for an afternoon walk. The librarian, Mrs. Andrews, was storing the returned books. "Hello, Mrs. Andrews," I walked closer to her, and only now did I notice the boy helping her. My ex who f****d my cousin. But no one knows we were dating. "Hello," I greeted him out of decency. In fact, no one even knows we know each other. "Hello," he said, placing the books on the shelf. "Hello, Miss Bihari," said Mrs. Andrews from behind that pile of books. I kept my last name after my mother. Mrs. Andrews was an older lady. She has two sons and once taught me English in elementary school. "How many times do I have to tell you to address me by name?" I said, taking the books from her. "Yes, I'm sorry," she wiped her sweaty forehead. "This is my son Noah," she stood at the counter. I was surprised because we dated for 2 months and he didn't tell me that. Noah took the books from my hands and winked at me. "What will it be today?" Mrs. Andrews asked me. "Actually, I'm going to be with Phillip all the holidays, and I wanted to look around for something," I replied, walking slowly between the shelves. "All right. I hope you find what you're looking for.” There was silence. All I heard was Noah storing books. After a while, he calmed down and I found myself in my own thoughts. I thought about every single title of the book, every single cover. Noah interrupted my thoughts. He stood on the back of the rack and leaned against it. He held a brand-new book by John Green in his hand and pretended to read it. He knew I loved John Green. He smiled and raised an eyebrow when he saw me looking at him. I walked over to him slowly, hoping to give me the book without any problems. But when I reached for her, he closed it and hid it behind his back. "Dia," he began, "We haven't seen each other in a long time." "Noah. Will you please give me the book?” "Like this one?" he asked, pulling out a book and looking at it in his hands. I raised an eyebrow and looked at my watch. I sighed and turned to leave. Noah grabbed my wrist tightly and turned to face him. "Noah, I don't have time for this." I pulled away from him and added to the step. But Noah caught up with me and grabbed my hands. He leaned toward my ear, "But you've always found time for me." He turned me to him and grabbed my arms behind me. "That hurts" I moaned and my knees broke. Noah laid me on the ground and dropped my hands to the ground. I knew what he was up to and I was afraid he would get it. His lips were inches from mine when a guy came up from behind Noah and grabbed Noah's shirt. He grabbed him by the throat, "You'll touch her one more time and it won't end well for you." He released him so Noah could catch his breath. Then he came to me and held out his hand to me. "Sam," "Diana, but for friends, Dia." He set me on my feet. "Thank you," I said with a smile. I think you came for this.” He handed me a book by John Green. I smiled and took her forward to the counter with the others so that Mrs. Andrews could write them down for me. Sam was waiting for me in front of the building. "So, thank you again for everything." Sam smiled. "Shall I take you?" He asked, unlocking the car. "No thanks, I like to walk. "Oh, fine. It was nice to meet you." "Me too." I smiled and watched him get lost in the car and later around the corner. I put the books in a textile bag and walked home. As soon as I went around the corner, I crashed into Phillip. "Hello." He grabbed me to keep me from falling. "Hi," I grabbed my balance and looked at him. A smile faded from his smiling face. "Has something happened?" he asked. "No, I'm fine.” I smiled. I saw he didn't believe it. "Okay. I'll tell you at home.” I grabbed his hand and pulled him home.
