The world split apart in a scream of stone and fire. Chunks of ceiling crashed down, shattering across the chamber floor in a storm of dust and sparks. The walls shook as if the entire mountain had decided it could no longer contain them. Lyra gasped as Orion wrenched her against him, his body a shield, his grip iron around her waist. His heat pressed into her spine, steady while everything else crumbled. Kael roared her name, lunging through falling debris, his hand stretching toward her like a promise he refused to break.
