“Beautiful eyes,” he whispered, as he turned back to her, ``Now stay here and rest,” he ordered harshly,” I’ll bring you dinner, and after a while I’ll come back, but don’t get any ideas, because you are sleeping with me.
“But why, I’ve never,”
“I know that Layla, It’s just an extra measure to keep you from running off.” The alpha was well aware of her innocence. Though she could kill a man in a heartbeat, it was obvious to him, with his wolf senses, that she had never been touched, or possibly even been kissed.
“ You can’t keep me here,” she whispered as he exited the door, “There’s always the window,”
Axel knew what she would do, and he was waiting in the grass under the window when she made her jump. She landed on her feet with a crooked smile, like she hadn’t just taken a thirty foot jump out of his window. Her hopes were dashed however, when she ran straight into his rock hard chest.
“Not a kitten, more like a black panther,” He whispered in her ear as he picked her up bridal style once again carrying her to his room.
This time he very gently laid her in the bed, before he laid down beside her. It was very late now, too late for dinner or hopes of another escape.. He forced her on her side, but she didn’t protest, she was still too weak and sleepy to fight. The little escapade in the dungeon forced her to realize she was in no position to put up any kind of fight. So she just allowed the asshole alpha to cover her up. Strangely enough though, she didn’t feel fear, only that she was safe, truly safe, for the first in a long, long time.
“Sleep, little kitten, “ he whispered in her ear as he pulled her back to his chest, cradling her in his arms. I will keep the nightmares away.”
How did he know?
Layla was awakened by the sound of her own screams, as happened many times before.
She jerked herself up in the bed, gasping for air, darting her eyes back and forth in panic.
As she tried to pounce off the bed, two strong arms wrapped around her from behind, and a husky voice lent it's hot breath to her ear.
"Easy, Layla, relax, it was just a dream, "
A big soft hand gently played with her hair, prompting her to look up.
The alpha had her in his arms. His strong musky scent filled her nostrils.
He murmured into her ear, stroking her hair, until she finally relaxed and came out of her frenzied daze.
Suddenly, she was aware of her sweat soaked shirt sticking to her skin, and her trembling body.
" Mom, Gina, " she stuttered. She had just relived her her family's death all over. The terror in their faces as they were being tortured, her utter feeling of helplessness as they took their last
breaths.
It was too much for her take at the moment, and she broke down into pitiful, heart wrenching, soul shaking sobs.
Axel scooped Layla up into his arms, holding her tightly as she buried her head to his chest, drenching his shirt with her tears.
He responded by pulling her closer, rocking the tiny woman in his strong arms.
"I know, I know, it's ok, " he whispered, his voice wafting in her ear.
Layla suddenly stiffened, raising her head, then pushing the alphas chest away from hers.
She looked up at him, her yellow eyes simmering with rage.
"How would you know, how could you, you weren't there, you didn't see what I saw, haven't felt what I felt, " the words left her mouth with a sneer.
" How could you be so arrogant to even utter those words, "
Axel unwrapped his arms, and sat her up on the side of the bed, staring deep into her eyes.
"I didn't see it, Layla, but I felt it just now .I felt every single emotion as my own."
"How, how did you, "
" The gift and curse of an alpha, " he shrugged, " But more than that I know, because my brother took away someone I loved too, "
"Oh, " Layla gasped, giving Axel a slight glance, " I am sorry, who was it, a brother, "
"Enough!!"
Axel jumped up and pushed her violently back down on the bed.
As he stood over the terrified young woman, his face transfigured into an angry snarling wolf, claws and teeth protracting.
His growl rumbled the bed leaving Layla shaking to her core.
" Get out, " he growled.
He did not have to ask twice.
