Surprise, Puny Wolves!

Layla jumped up and flung the door open, running for the stairs.
Alex and some other wolves, including a couple warriors stood there with their mouths wide open, as they saw Layla's tiny body shred into a black panther, bounding down the steps, ripping the door with her claws as she flew on all fours into the forest.
"What.just.happened." One of the young women turned to Alex, who was still standing with his mouth agape.
All of them looked up simultaneously, as their alpha came angrily barreling down the steps, coming to a complete stop at the door.
"What the actual f**k, " Axel growled, as he glared at the shredded front door,
" Huh, oh Axel man you wouldn't believe me if I told you, but judging from your yelling and growling, I think you may have scared her just a little bit, "
Alex emphasized the word little, pushing his thumb and index finger together to symbolize.
Axel stopped and glanced around the room, to see his wolves mouths hanging open.
"Well, which way did she go, guys, " he huffed.
" I don't know man, " one of them answered, "But I sure as hell ain't going after her, you're on your own, "
" I'll go with you alpha,"
his beta replied
"So will I" piped in one of the she- wolves, " I have to see this with my own two eyes."
Layla bound into the trees, weaving her black paws back and forth.She stopped to catch a scent, then let out a growl only a jaguar could, before she climbed a tree with the speed of a leopard.
She jumped on a branch and crouched down low, curling her long black tail around her body, hissing at any noise she heard.
Suddenly, she felt very sleepy, her body and mind tiring of the endless anger of those arrogant wolves,and she needed a cat nap. Layla's black jaguar let out a big yawn, then gently licked her silky black paws before she settled into her little nest to sleep. No one would find her here, a hundred foot up in a tree, deep in the woods..
Axel, Alex, and the female warrior ran into the woods, stopping to catch her scent.
"Careful, guys, she's close,I'm sure, " spoke Alex, " We need to be careful, or we'll spook her, "
"Spook her!" The female, named Lacey exclaimed." After what I just saw, I'm the one who is spooked, "
Axel gave her a disgruntled side eye before he stopped and threw his hand up.
"Trail goes cold here, but where is she, "
"Look up, dumbass, " Axel turned to his two fellow warriors, who were staring up into the trees with amazement.
When he raised his gaze, he couldn't believe what he saw.
There one one of the branches lay a large black cat, big as a wolf, curled up sleeping like a house cat. Her purrs rumbled the branches as she snoozed peacefully.
"A damn black panther, Alex, you were right, look at her, she's beautiful, " Axel whispered.
" Told ya bro, you should have seen the looks on our faces when she shredded into a big cat flying down the the stairs and out the door, "
"Really, she did that, " Axel was amazed.
Their little kitty was indeed a true panther, in every sense of the word.
"Well, the question is, alpha, how do we get her down, " Alex threw his Alpha a mischievous look
" If I were you, " Lacey stepped in, I would tread very carefully, "
The two wolves turned their head to her, questioning.
"Well, she is a girl, sensitive and spiteful like the rest of, so I wouldn't go ordering her around in your big bad wolf voices. That will just set her off, so let me handle this, "
" Ok”, they shrugged" What are you going to do?"
“Just stand back a bit and watch.”
Lacey took a big step back, shredding into her wolf, then she jumped into a nearby smaller tree, then effortlessly bounded up higher into the others, before she landed silently on a limb right above the sleeping Layla.
Shen then went back into her human form, smiling at the boys like the cheshire cat.
Lacey gingerly bent down and rubbed her large head, "Layla " she whispered.
