Two years earlier, on a rainy night. Even with a high fever, Amaris drank round after round of alcohol to shield Stellan. His project depended on that investment, and the head of the company would only seal the deal by drinking with her. She drank until her stomach burned, until her vision blurred, and finally stumbled into the restroom where she retched violently. Yet when she returned home, she still smiled and signed to him.
