Meeting My Pack

Aries POV
James and I were walking to the pack house and I was really nervous, but he kept assuring me that everything was going to be alright and that they would love me.
I may have decided to become their Alpha, who has no idea how to be an Alpha by the way. But I made a commitment and I was sticking to it. It’s not like I had anything else to do.
"Relax girl, we don't bite!" James said, before he quickly added. "Well I might." He said winking.
I blushed biting my lower lip. Damn him and his sexiness.
Curious I asked. "So how many people are in this pack?"
He thought about it before answering. "Sixty-six including kids."
I smiled. "Wow, if you guys had put one more six to the end that would have been bad Karma. "
He laughed. "That would have been crazy! Well I guess we didn't need the other six since our Alpha died from a rogue attack, but now we have you, so I guess it’s not all bad."
"Are you trying to make me feel good or feel bad?" I asked him raising an eyebrow.
"Oh no, it’s nothing like that." He said smiling. “He wasn’t the best Alpha, but we tolerated him.
James POV
What the f**k. I'm such a douche, and if not I definitely sound like a f**k boy. I face palmed myself in my head.
I wasn't trying to make her feel bad, but I guess it came out that way. Her face turned in to a frown when I talked about the previous Alpha. Our Alpha dying was very tragic since it left us with no Alpha, and we needed one. No one wanted to step-up the plate and since his pregnant wife died carrying the future heir, we were screwed.
The beta also died, but he hadn’t found his mate yet. I stepped up to take a less stressful position, that let me still protect the pack, but not have the stress of leading on my shoulders. s**t, I didn't want to be a beta neither, but someone had to be something of an authority figure, if this pack was going to survive.
The alpha was not a great man, but in a way he cared for his pack and that is all we needed, but now looking back I think we deserved better and I get a good feeling that our new alpha will be exactly what we need.
All of a sudden she smiled big.
Oh no.
"Do you guys have a pack name?" She asked still smiling.
"Not really, we just call ourselves The Pack, we used to be Red Spiral Pack, but when the Alpha died we formed a different one. Why?" I was curious now.
"Well I was wondering. No, I mean I was thinking! Why don't we come up with a name for us? I mean I like the name you guys already have, but since I'm starting over I think we should all start over with something new!" She beamed at me expectantly.
I like this girl already. I smiled. "That is a great idea!" She squealed and jumped up throwing her arms around me. I was in shock.
Suddenly, she tensed looking up at me embarrassed. Since I wasn't hugging her back she started getting off, but I scooped her up into a bear hug, while she laughed happily. I sniffed her deep loving her natural lavender and vanilla smell.
I finally put her down and we looked into each other’s eyes and I felt a pull. I blinked once and suddenly noticed that our faces were close together. I was about to kiss her as she to leaned in with her eyes closed, but then I heard noise coming from somewhere. I stiffened and turned my head and saw that we were at the pack house. I relaxed and looked back at her.
Since she didn't feel my lips on hers, she opened her eyes and looked at me, then leaned back looking away embarrassed, confused and disappointed. I was to, since we didn't get to kiss, but I composed myself. She get out of my arms her face still looking away.
I tilted her head around with the tip of my finger on her chin and she looked at me with honey brown eyes. Wow she was so beautiful.
"Don't worry, we will continue this later if you like, but we are here." I said smiling.
She blushed, but then she looked really confused so I pointed to the house. When I did she gaped. "Well s**t!"
I smiled.
Marie’s POV
"Well s**t!" I said. I gaped at the house stupidly.
James smiled sweetly.
Man, this house was big! Okay not exactly big, but huge!
I was still thinking about how I was about to get my first kiss from James and blushed at the memory. The house helped keep my mind off that. I turned to James beaming.
"This house is huge!" I exclaimed.
"Yeah." He laughed and it was deep. Wow he had such a masculine laugh.
"But your pack I mean OUR pack has only sixty-six people! This house is bigger than my old packs house and they had more people." I said smiling, I loved big houses.
"Yeah and that is weird, but we found this place and have been building it up and as you see, it has gotten bigger." He said proudly.
"Awesome! Teach me how to build?" I asked giving him the puppy dog eyes.
He chuckled. "Okay.
We started walking up the steps when a guy rushed out of the house pushing James out of the way and hugged me squealing. "Hey Alpha!"
"Hey you." I said confused, but hugged him back awkwardly.
"The names Jules and I can tell we are going to be the best of friends." He said while letting me go. He looked me right in the eyes and they seemed to be sparkling.
I laughed. "I can tell. So best friend, will you walk me to the house and introduce me."
He beamed. "Hell yeah!" He took my arm and started walking up the steps, but then he looked back.
"Oh, hi Jimmy boy. Didn't see your fine ass there." Jules winked and blow him a kiss.
James and I both laughed, and James pushed us in the house.
"Hello to you to Jules." James said chuckling. “It’s funny, I thought you saw me when you pushed me out of the way.”
Jules playfully stuck his tongue out at him. “Maybe, but enough of this saltiness from you, let’s go show our new Alpha around.
James playfully rolled his eyes at Jules and we turned back to the house.
Wow, it looks even better inside. Like a castle.
I smiled looking around at the paintings on the walls and the comfortable furniture. They walked me through the living room that was spacious and had a chandelier, then through the gorgeous kitchen that had a marble island, and finally to the backyard that was surrounded with Christmas lights everywhere.
Wait, it’s not Christmas unless I’ve been hibernating. I turned towards James to question him and he beat me to it.
“Those are just there to light up the backyard and make it look better." He said smiling.
And boy did it look exquisite. I looked down at the crowd that had gathered. There were so many faces! I don't think I'll be able to remember all of them from our first meeting. I am really bad when it comes to remembering names.
All of a sudden people came to introduce themselves. They kept saying how glad they were to have me be their Alpha and how beautiful I was. I nodded my head and blushed so many times I thought my face would turn into a tomato. I guess James must have mind-linked the pack, about what happened to me.
After the introductions we all got settled with me sitting at a highchair facing the crowd with James and Jules at each side of me. I was making Jules my third in commend. I already saw us the greatest of friends and he seemed trustworthy, with his carefree spirit.
James who was already a beta, was staying as my second in command, since he knew how to run things and would help me learn. He stood up to speak. "Our alpha here has come up with a great idea." His voice beamed quieting the crowd, he then looked down at me smiling. "Tell them Alpha." He smirked winking.
He then sat down, while I stood up.
"Well you see. I was thinking that since you guys are getting a new Alpha and I am starting over with my life, in a way we are all starting over. I know it’s strange that I got the Alpha position out of nowhere, and especially that I’m a stranger, but I hope that’s not for long.” I paused looking around at the expectant faces.
“Plus nobody wanted the responsibility, so I’m the sucker to throw it on.” The pack laughed clapping.
I waited till they quieted down to continue. “So, I was thinking of maybe changing up the pack name."
Everybody started talking at once trying to ask me questions. I held up my hand.
"One question at a time please." I said feeling overwhelmed.
I point to a guy in his forties sitting with his family.
"I like our name, but I'm curious, what would our new name be?" I think his name was Shane Duck.
The crowd looked at me expectantly.
I fidgeted nervously. "Well I was sampling around and-" I was cut off by James.
"Just tell them. I'm positive they will love it." He whispered so that only I could hear him.
I stopped fidgeting. If I was going to be an Alpha, then I needed to act like one and also show my pack I was a strong person. I smiled. These people seemed like nice people.
I said. "Red Brazen Pack."
"I figured red was a very aggressive color and brazen meant bold, so they went well together." I explained.
I waited for their response patiently.
There was silence all around. Maybe this wasn't a good idea. James stood up and wrapped an arm around me, squeezing my shoulder reassuringly, before sitting back down, but I stayed up. Everybody stayed silent for a while longer, but then they cheered one by one.
I beamed.
James and Jules both stood up putting a hand on either shoulder smiling. They looked at me. Then each other, before looking back at the pack and together said. "To the Red Brazen Pack!" Everyone cheered louder clapping.
I sighed, finally feeling at home.
