Moments later Ephraim broke the kiss, ruffling his hair as he moved away from her, pacing round the beach line. Karen sat on a boulder nearby, watching him, perplexed at his reaction. When he was done wearing out the sands, he came to her, held her up and led her back into the car without saying a word.  He drove them straight to his hotel and they went inside together, still not speaking to each other. They now stood in his room facing each other in awkward silence.  Karen eventually burst her bubble by asking him why he was acting as though they had done such a sinful thing. He glared at her and began pacing about in his room. She held his arms roughly and halted his pacing and demanded a little too harshly that he talk.
