Moments later Ephraim broke the kiss, ruffling his hair as he moved away from her, pacing round the beach line. Karen sat on a boulder nearby, watching him, perplexed at his reaction. When he was done wearing out the sands, he came to her, held her up and led her back into the car without saying a word.
He drove them straight to his hotel and they went inside together, still not speaking to each other. They now stood in his room facing each other in awkward silence.
