In the resident group without John, the discussion quickly turned into speculation.

"Isn't this John guy crazy, buying so much stuff." One nosy neighbor said.

"Did you see the news? They said a big snowstorm is coming soon. The government also told people to buy some physical goods in preparation." Another person replied. "This kid probably got some insider news, so he stocked up on so many supplies ahead of time."

"Rumors of the apocalypse come up every few years, when has it ever come true?"

"Well what do you think, it can't be as simple as him going mad because his wife left him, right?"

"You didn't know? It's not just a breakup," the insider divulged, "They're not even divorced yet and his lover already has another man, sounds like a rich playboy type, even bought her a house. And she's staying in our building, can you imagine?"

"That's like taking a dump on John's face!"

"Hey, don't say it so disgustingly," the more prudish neighbor admonished.

John kept on buying and buying, naturally making more and more people envious.

In their hearts, people didn't really believe John was making "rock sugar" at home, they just said so to anger him. Also, defaming others online didn't require taking on much responsibility, just a moment's gratification.

It is true that John buying so many things recently is abnormal. What if he really is doing something illegal at home?

I've heard that people involved in shady 'businesses' have guns, if you follow them you really could get shot.

When it comes to their own interests, even a one in a million chance is intolerable.

"Fellow neighbors, I'm not only a resident of Dream Castle, but also a community leader. If anything happens in our neighborhood, I, Kelly, have an inescapable responsibility!"
