Chapter 11 – Lavender’s POV When I am properly able to see again, my fairy god mother and me are standing somewhere else in the woods. She walks up to me, grabs me by my shoulders and turns me around. On the place which I would have described as behind me, stands a cute little cottage. It is exactly the magical little cottage I expected her to live in. You know, the kind of cottage that looks like it came straight out of a fairy tale or a dream. But this is real, and it’s standing right in front of me. I let out a gasp at the magical sight in front of me. Serene smiles at that. “It’s pretty ‘neat’, right?” She asks as she pulls both of her eyebrows up and makes awkward peace signs with her hands. I stare at her blankly. Seeing my reaction what she did she immediately straightens her posture again. “I have been practicing the language of the youth.” She says while looking down. That makes me smile. Now she’s even more like a grandma! I wrap my arm around one of her shoulders and together we walk through the magical gardens to the cottage. The inside of the cottage is nicely decorated. I think the best way to describe it is ‘classic grandma’: cosy, warm and vintage. Serene immediately walks to the kitchen while she gestures for me to take a seat in one of the chairs in the living room. “I’m quickly going to make us both some tea. Is there any particular favour you would want?” I tell her no and she gets to work. I take a seat in the chair and take this moment alone to take a good look at my surroundings. From where I’m seated I can see the fireplace, which, I think, is decorated with Christmas garlands. Behind me is the door into the living room with the entryway behind it. Against the same wall as the door to the living room, stands a small dining table with two chairs. I don’t think she gets visitors very often. After a few more minutes Serene returns to the living room with a tray. On it are a big pot of tea, two cups and a pot with cookies. She puts the tray on the coffee table in front of me and pours the both of us a cup of tea before sitting down in the other chair. An awkward silence fall between us for a few moments as Serene takes a few sips from her tea. I uncomfortably shift around in the chair, waiting for my fairy god mother to start talking. And after what feels like forever she finally does. “Alright we have a lot to catch up on.” She pulls out a small piece of paper. “First on the list, your memories. I think you might have the most luck of obtaining those if you travel to the east, were the mere people live. They already know who you are and what you are coming to do.” I open my mouth to interrupt her, but she puts up a finger, signalling for silence, and I close my mouth again. She continues. “I can’t tell you too much now, since the best way for you to complete this, is to discover all of this yourself. I have actually already told you too much, but since I’m your fairy god mother, I say I am allowed to tell you this much. Second, Darius. You probably have a lot of questions about him. I have been watching you ever since you were young, and so I have also seen your argument with him before I came. I know you might find this all a bit strange, that’s because it probably is. But listen to me when I tell you that he is going to play an important role in this all. He is the KEY to you getting your memories back. I know he hasn’t been honest with you ever since the two of you met, but just show him you trust him and he’ll eventually tell you.” “When will that be?” I ask, remembering our argument and crossing my arms over my chest. “I have no reason to trust him.” Serene nods, leans over and puts one of her wrinkled hands on one of my knees. “I know you don’t, but you don’t know the reason behind his lies. I always say: the reason behind the actions is just as important as the action itself. Sometimes even more important.” It’s my turn to nod my head. Indeed, I don’t know his reason for lying to me. Maybe he is trying to protect me or just scared to tell me the truth because of the reaction I’ll have. I tell myself to be a bit more forgiving and understanding of Darius’ lies next time. “Didn’t you see him?” Serene asks. I give her a confused look. “He was standing behind you when I teleported myself to you. He probably thought I hadn’t seen him, but I had. When he saw me, he looked scared. But not for himself, for you. He really wants you to be save, so don’t be too hard on him.” She says while leaning even further to me. “Also as a little sidenote: I think another reason for his scared expression when I told you I am your fairy god mother was because he might have thought I would expose his lies to you. But I’m not gonna. He’s either going to tell you the truth himself, or you’ll find out the truth YOURself when you regain your memories.” Well, yeah, I suppose that makes sense, I think. “Third, your unknown magical potential. This is really important for me to talk about with you. You having such strong magical potency, is the sole reason I got chosen to be your fairy god mother. Even though I wasn’t allowed to tell you until you turned 19. But because of your disappearance I couldn’t talk to you until just now. Sorry ‘bout that.” I nod in understanding. “Back to the subject. You have a lot of magical potential. And that is because of your parents. I don’t think it’s a good idea to just tell you. I think it might be better to just show you.” Serene stands up, puts her cup to the side and walks over to me. When she stands in front of me she extends her hand for me to take. And that’s exactly what I do. As soon as I do, my vision goes entirely black. Suddenly, my surroundings become visible again. I’m still holding Serene’s hand, but I’m standing now. The both of us are standing in a large cave with an open ceiling. The cave is lid up by glowing crystals. “Where are we?” I ask while looking around, trying to anker everything I’m seeing in my mind. “We are in the past.” Serene answers. “This is where your soul was created.” She lets go of my hand and cranes her head backwards to look at the full moon which was clearly visible. “10 minutes to go.” She says while looking back at me. I look at her with confusion written all over my face. But my fairy god mother just smiles and looks back at the centre of the cave, where everything is going to take place. Out of nowhere, a woman appears. She has long blond hair, fair skin and a long, red dress on which hugs her figure just in the right places. She looks like royalty. “That is queen Constance. The queen you started a protest against.” Serene whispers. After Constance, a man appears. He is holing another woman’s hand and has old looking armor which was a rich gold color. His appearance made me instantly think of the sun. My thoughts are confirmed by Serene’s next statement: “That man, in the gold armor, that’s Apollo, roman god of the sun.” The woman whose hand Apollo is holding has wavy silver hair, pale, almost white skin, a dark blue and silver dress with long sleeves that go really wide at the bottom and a small silver crown. “The woman next to him,” Serene continues, “is names Selene. She is the goddes of the moon and the god who intertwines mate’s fates together with one another. Both of them are from the realm of mythology. I have heard Lance already explained all the dimensions or realms to you. So I’m glad I don’t have to anymore.” She releases a sigh of relief at that. After Selene and Apollo a majestic looking elf appears. He is wearing all white, majestic clothes and his long, the upper half of his snow white hair is tied into a neat little bun. Everything about him screams winter vibes. “That guy over there is Vaeril. He is king of the ice elves.” From a gush of wind and leaves a small, bit more pudgy woman appears her skin is tanned, her eyes are intensely green and her dress and headpieces are made of leaves and flowers. “That is mother nature.” Serene points her out. “She’s from earth. Even though nobody ever saw her there. She makes for a balance between nature and the human race. Even though it’s starting to get tougher. Humans keep finding new ways to destroy her work.” Serene says, shaking her head in disapproval. The last person to arrive is a tall, dark skinned man, he doesn’t arrive like the rest of them, he flies through the open ceiling and lands amidst the others. “That is Gadriël. He is a mix between an angel and a vampire. He represents the peace between dark and light, which has been there ever since he has. One of the two could never thrive without the other’s existence. They are bound together. Like werewolves and their mates.” I can hear what she’s saying, but I can not take my eyes of the creatures in front of me. They whisper something to each other and form a circle in the middle of the cave, under the full moonlight. Mother nature steps forward and goes to stands in the middle of the circle. She extends her arms to the front and slowly but steadily, a white orb of light appears in front of her. It is about the size of a fully grown man’s fist. By the weird expression she makes, it is clear she is having a hard time with it and that it costs her a lot of energy and power. After she creates the orb, she steps backwards and all the others step forward one by one. All of them put some of their magic in the orb. This tasks clearly takes a big tole on all of them. And every time they put magic in the orb, the orb gets bigger until it’s about the size of a head. After the last person, Selene put her magic in the orb, the rest joins her. All of them extend their hands. I look at them in awe. Even without my memories, I can tell I have never seen anything like this before. All of them link hands and the orb flies up. Everything around me goes black again for a few seconds. When my vision returns, I am standing in a nursery. From where I’m standing, I can see a pregnant woman standing on the balcony outside while looking up at the sky and the full moon. I feel a sense of security around her and look questioningly at Serene. “That is your mother. It’s normal for people with magic be able to pick out who their family is by their aura and how the naturally feel around them.” I nod and continue to stare at the pregnant lady. Then, the orb appears. The lady doesn’t seam to notice it though. Maybe it was invisible at the time, but visible for us from the future because we already knew it was coming. The orb of magic and light flies inside the woman’s belly. “*sigh* I can already feel you are going to be special. I just know it. You are going to bring a change to the world. In a good way.” She says while stroking her belly lovingly. The sight, which is now slowly fading away, puts a smile on my face. When my sight comes back, Serene and I are still standing in the nursery, but now the baby is laying in the cradle, asleep. I has just been born, the baby doesn’t even have that much hair yet. Wait, that’s me! I didn’t have that much hair! Through the glass door to the balcony, falls the soft moonlight. It’s an enchanting sight. Suddenly a shadow appears, blocking a lot of the moonlight streaming into the room. The hooded figure to who the shadow belongs that I saw, waves his or her hand and the door magically opens. I want to run up to them and tell them to stay away from younger me, to leave me alone. But no matter how hard I scream, it doesn’t help. All of this has already happened. The hooded figure takes the hood of, revealing queen Constance. She takes young me in her arms. But young me doesn’t notice anything because I am still fast asleep. “I am here now. Your REAL mommy is here.” Queen Constance says as she picks the baby up out of the cradle and places me under her long coat. Then she spins around and she’s gone. I look at Serene. “There is only one more thing I am gonna show you about your past. The rest of it you’ll remember when you get your memories back.” Everything goes black again. Now we’re standing in the queen’s bedroom. One of the maids is holding the baby. “It’s a girl!” Constance screams. “It’s not supposed to be a girl. It’s supposed to be a boy. I agreed to give up some of my magic to create one of the strongest creatures ever to give my kingdom to when I retire, but I can’t put such responsibilities in that THING! A girl can’t be as good as a boy. She will never be as strong as her brother. But, I didn’t get him. That f*ucking *ssh*le of an elven king did because his wife was chosen to bare the baby with our made spirit.” She says, looking angrier than ever. “What would you us to do now?” The maid holding the baby asks. “Well we can’t possibly send her back to her parents now. You know what, raise her until she’s four. Then, she can spend the rest of her short life in the dungeon.” The queen answers. The maid nods and walks away with me in her arms. Everything goes black for the last time. When my vision returns I am sitting on the chair in Serene’s house again. I can not believe what I just saw. Serene sighs. “Well, there you go. That’s all I am allowed to show you of your past. Are you alright?” I sit there in silence, blankly staring at the fire in the fireplace. “Look I know this all is a bit much but I think it’s important for you to know where you came from.” My fairy god mother says while waving her hand in front of my face to try to get me back to reality. I look at her. “Why would the queen do such a thing?” Serene looks at me. My pain as clear as day reflecting on her face. “Well dear, she did that because she needed someone to take over the kingdom after her. Like your brother was going to do for the king of the elves. The difference though, is that your brother’s mother was the elven king’s wife. So for him it was much natural to take over. But you were kidnapped. You see, a soul is created without a gender. The baby itself determines whether it is going to be a boy or a girl. The queen wanted a boy, but when she found out you were not, she got really mad. She let you stay with that maid who held you until you were four. After that, you were put in the dungeon and… Oh, I’m not allowed to say anymore.” Serene looks at the clock above the dining table. It might be time for you to go home. Darius and Lance are probably really worried about you. I nod and stand up. Both of us walk outside. It has stopped raining. My fairy god mother takes out her wand again. She waves it a couple of times and we teleport to the edge of the forest, on one of the hills looking out over the camp. I can just about see how Darius gets dragged inside the main tent by Lance. His clothes and hair are soaking wet. “Awwwwwwww.” Serene says, tilting her head slightly to the side. “He has been waiting for you, in the pouring rain! If that doesn’t show he cares, I don’t know what does!” That statement makes me blush. I wave to Serene and turn around to go back to the camp when she grabs me by my shoulders. “One more piece of advice before you go Lavender. Be honest with Darius. I know this will encourage him to be honest with you. Because it’ll show you trust him.” I nod and she lets my shoulder go and disappears again. I turn around and walk to the camp.
