Tessa’s POV The morning light crept in through the hospital window, painting the walls a soft yellow. I sat up slowly, pushing the scratchy blanket off my legs. My body still ached, but it wasn’t as bad as yesterday. The nurse had come in earlier with a big smile, telling me I was ready to be discharged. I should have felt relieved. I should have been smiling too. But instead, there was a weird pit in my stomach. I sighed and ran my hand through my hair, trying to flatten it. I didn’t even want to think about how messy I looked.
