Tessa’s POV
I couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed as I apologized to Liam, but the words were sincere. I’d already dragged him into something I didn’t mean to.
“I’m sorry,” I said, my voice softer than I intended. “I didn’t mean for him to act like that.”
Liam’s eyes widened, and his voice was a little shaky. “You’re… related to him?”
I nodded, sighing. “Yeah. My mom married his dad. But that’s all we are to each other—step-siblings. Nothing more.”
Liam looked like he was still processing it. His gaze flickered from my face to the ground and back again. “I don’t get it. Why does he act like that? He clearly has feelings for you.”
