“I wasn’t talking to you,” Liam said, calm but firm, his eyes not leaving mine. My heart gave a small squeeze, partly from relief, partly from frustration. I didn’t want a scene, not today. Not after the phone call I’d just had with my mother, and definitely not in front of a class full of people who’d already seen more than enough. Tyler shifted in his seat, lifting his head, and the coldness in his stare sent a shiver crawling down my spine.
