A particularly devastating storm which had swept through the city one faithful night had blown a quarter of the mosque to bits, though no one had been around to witness it at the time. The citizens of Sana'a had merely woken up one faithful morning to find the building in ruins. That was just another episode in a series of catastrophic events which befell the city. Just a few days before, three people had been found dead in their homes, with no possible explanation as to how they had died. Some said it was just a coincidence.
