CHAPTER THREE

1166 Words
As I laid on my bed,I couldn't shake off the scary feeling I had, it was like I wasn't getting things right and I was still being lied to. I turned and turned on my bed,I couldn't sleep. An experiment was carried out on this Lyanna Dorva,if I am her as that strange man had claimed, that means an experiment was carried out on me. I shook my head sideways and shut my eyes,in an attempt to get the feeling off or forget I had seen that. The Faction had been so nice to me as a kid, especially Ma Kate and the Capo-even though no one had ever seen him-he always took care of me from the shadows. I was confused and my head was throbbing,I grabbed my phone and checked the time,it was already quarter past three and I still haven't slept. I stood up and went to grab milk from the kitchen. I could have sent the maids but I didn't want to disturb their sleep. I got downstairs, and I saw that the light in Ma Kate study was on.I thought she had slept off while working,so I walked towards the door, but then I heard whispers,it was like she's in there with someone. I gently placed my ear on the door and I could hear them whispering. “Do you think you can keep all what you've done hidden from her?” Ma Kate asked. “For the yearsI have studied science my memory wiper has always been very effective.” The other voice said,it sounded like the Capo's voice. I've only heard him talk a few times, but I have his voice registered in my head. “Well,I don't think so,she asked me who Lyanna Dorva was? Or if I knew anything about her past before the Faction?” “What do you mean?” “She said someone called her that at the ball and that made her think about her past.” “Then I think we should do a re-wipe. Get all the necessary stuff ready in the lab room.” “Are you high? You want to re-wipe her memory, do you think she is that same young girl of 8 years? She's a grown ass woman now.” “I don't care, and lower your voice she might hear you.” I turned swiftly and I collided with the flower vase at the foot of the stairs and it fell to the ground and broke. Ma Kate opened the door and came out and she stared at me and went back to the vase on the floor. “Ria dear, how did this happen?” She asked me and pulled me away from the shattered glass gently. “I couldn't sleep, so I wanted to get warm milk to drink. As I was walking down the stairs,I slipped and hit the vase. I'm so sorry Ma Kate.” I replied. “It's okay my dear,it's okay.” She said and pulled me to the couch to sit down. “Are you hurt anywhere?” She asked looking all over my body for any wounds or scars. “My ankle.” I lied. The stairs there were made out of wood and there was no way that if you fell, you wouldn't get injured. That was just a diversion to keep my lie together. From the corner of my eyes,I saw Capo slipping quietly into his room. He didn't have that stupid mask on,maybe that's why he didn't come here. Ma Kate touched my ankle and I winced. “ Oh my sorry dear, Faye.” She said and called out to the maid. “Yes ma'am.” Faye replied. I could see it in her eyes that she was just awaking from her sleep. “Get the first aid box.”Ma Kate said worriedly. I couldn't help but wonder how a woman this kind would be brave enough to perform an experiment on me or better still wipe my memory. All the facts weren't coming together. Faye came back with the first aid box and Ma Kate picked the pain relief ointment and rubbed it in between her palms and carefully massaged my ankle. I kept wincing at intervals to make my lie believable. After she was finished she had Faye take me back to my room to lay down and rest. Faye dropped me slowly on my bed and after she left I stood up and wriggled my ankle. I giggled at the act I had just displayed. But then again, they talked about wiping my memory again and I was going to just sit back and let that happen. I had to do something, I had to leave. I was awake till dawn. I entered the bathroom and had my shower. I changed into another clothes.I would leave this morning. I'd lie I have unfinished work and my boss called me back. I went downstairs and the Head chef had already prepared breakfast. It was eight thirty, when I checked the time. I sat down and began eating, when Ma Kate came out from her room. “Good morning Ma Kate.” I greeted her with a smile. “Good good morning my dear.” Ma Kate replied back with a smile on her face. Ma Kate sat down across from me,and started eating her food. “I'd be going back to Sicily this morning.” I blurted out. “Huh? Darling I thought you said you were going to spend a week here,so what is the problem?” Ma Kate asked, her brows creasing. “My boss called me back for urgent work.” I replied and continued eating my food. “Okay then,I can't stop you,can I?” Ma Kate muttered and turned her face away. “I'll come back as soon as possible Ma.” I said and squeezed her hand lightly. I moved my chair backwards and stood up. I climbed the stairs to arrange my bags,by the time I was done,Ma Kate had gone into her study. I walked out the front door and the guards by the gate stopped me. “Ma'am you can't leave the premises.” The head guard said . “What do you mean? I have important things to do,I have to get going.” I shouted and tried to push aside their hands that were obstructing me. One of the guards held me firmly on my shoulder. “We have orders from the Capo to not let you leave.” The head guard said again. I struggled with the guard that held my shoulders to free myself. I managed to get myself free, but two other guards held my hands and I kept struggling and kicking my legs to break free from their grip. Before I knew it,my head felt heavy,my eyes were blurry and I began to feel weak. From the corner of my blurry eyes, I saw the head guard with a syringe in his hand and my world went pitch black.
