Lyanna's pov
I got home exhausted and confused. Cassian clearly knew something regarding that document,I could see the shock in his eyes but why would he lie to me.
“f**k this stupid italian I can't read.” I cursed and sat on the couch.
I stood up, had my shower and laid lazily on the bed.
My phone pinged as a message popped in.
“Are you asleep yet?” It was Cassian….but how did he get my number.
“I didn't give him my number…….” My voice trailed off as I recalled when he slipped my business card into his jacket. “Shit.” I muttered.
“No I'm not.” I typed back.
“Well,is that a good thing or a bad thing?”
“ It's more of like a I don't know thing,I just can't sleep,I can't get my mind off of that file.” I typed back.
“Just try to.”
“Okay.”
“Do you know what it felt like when you were being experimented on?”
“How I wish I knew, those psychotic bastards wiped my memory, but when they wanted to wipe it again,I had this feeling of deja vu,I was in pain, scared, and confused. I think I just wanted it to all stop.” I typed back and a tear fell from my eyes.
“It's okay, I don't know the kind of pain you went through, and I am truly sorry for not being there to protect you.”
I didn't say anything back,I didn't know what to say,it's not like I remembered who he was,I only just felt a connection that I might know him.
After a few minutes, another message popped in.
“Wanna grab breakfast,tomorrow morning?”
It was from Cassian.
Of course,I'd love it,he is handsome and built…my mind drifted off to somewhere and I nodded sideways.
“Sure.” I typed back.
THE NEXT MORNING
I played my favorite song-the fate of Ophelia-,loud enough on the speakers and danced happily and crazily while I was dressing up to meet Cassian at the cafe and go to work.
I pulled my car to a stop in front of Willy's cafe and got down. I pushed open the glass door and I saw Cassian seated by the windows.I walked up to him and sat across from him.
“You came.” He said and smiled.
I could see his perfect dentition and white teeth, his perfume was strong but not too strong or harsh.
“Yeah,I said I would,didn't I ?”
I retorted.
“Most girls would have just ghosted.” He muttered.
“I'm not most girls,I'm Lyanna Dorva.”
“So you have learnt to accept the name?” He asked .
“If it's my name, why still keep it hidden when I'm alive and well.”
“People out there still want to hurt you,the factions are probably tearing down the whole city looking for you.”
“I know that..don't tell me you think I can't fight for myself.”
“Hmmm,I don't know.” Cassian muttered.
I smirked and placed my hand on the table.
“Estate gym 8pm,I think I have a trick or two.”
ESTATE GYM. 8:15pm
I walked into the gym, strapping my hand glove tightly around my wrist. I spotted Cassian throwing a few punches to the punching bag.
“Oh you're early.” I said and placed my bag on the bench.
“Yeah…had to stretch a bit.” He replied and steadied the punching bag.
“Okay, let's get this started.” I said. “And please don't hold back, believe me I'm not weak.” I said and tied my hair up into a messy bun.
“Sure??”
“Of course.” I giggled and slipped under the ropes and into the ring where he was standing.
Cassian circled his fists, squared his shoulders and his stance was firm and calm.
I stood firmly and confident in myself.
He lunged forward,a jab aiming for my shoulders.
I slipped to his side and carefully dodged the blow.
He lunged forward again,I spun, and gribbed his wrist tightly flipping him over and he fell to the ground with a loud thud.
I smirked. “Don't hold back,come at me.”
“You asked for it.” He said and folded his fists. He cracked his neck.
I smiled and lunged forward,he dodged my punch and I kicked him hard in the stomach. He bent down to clutch his tummy,I took it as my chance and tried to kick him again, but he caught my legs mid air, flipped me over and to the ground.
I winced. “Ouch.”
“Still want me to not hold back.” He smirked.
I said nothing and only smiled back.
This time I let him come to me and when he did I was prepared. I jumped on the rope of the ring and circled my legs around his neck tightly, still gripping the rope I twirled and he fell again to the ground with a loud thud. I placed my foot on his stomach and smiled.
“What did you say about me not being able to protect myself?” I muttered.
