Her
I sit in the garden the cool grass under my butt and I relax under the sun. I turn my attention back to my book about green witches that are able to connect with nature and living or dead plants. Their is a lot of interesting facts about how this witch is rare and often times unheard of. Often coming into their powers at a young age and always having the ability to produce and help plants grow or bring them back from the dead and revitalize them.
I have always loved nature and would love to possess this kind of magic, but I don't believe I am a green witch because I have used my magic for other things. The book states that green witch can only use their powers strictly for plants and potions. Nowhere in the book does it state anything about defense.
I close the book and set it down leaning back on my hands and closing my eyes. My fingers intertwine with the cool damp grass until I feel the soil beneath my fingertips. I take a deep breath and when I exhale I feel warmth travel up my arms.
When I inhale I feel a connection with the grass. It almost feels as if it is exhaling through me. I can feel the people walking a distance away. The birds are on the grass on the other side of the garden. I relax further feeling the connection spread through the entire garden. I can feel a vile burning and struggle to breath through it. I feel the rest of the plants seem to be struggling to flourish.
I open my eyes and notice all of the weeds are overgrown. They have taken over the garden not allowing the plants to get the nutrition or sunlight they need.
I close my eyes and focus on the vile feeling that seems to be plaguing the plants. I feel the weeds now flourishing causing the flowers to die off. I cut their nutients and pull it from them until I feel their life source drain. I bring them to the point of decomposition to help feed the other plants. I push the nutrients from the weeds into the rest of the garden no longer is their a burning, but just relief and I feel them strive.
"Oh my gosh, you didn't tell me she was a green witch!"
I jump and turn around launching myself to my feet. The king is standing with a tall slender woman with all black long pin straight silky hair. Her lilac colored eyes shine as she stares at me with a look of awe.
I look to the king confused I hadn't seen him since he had shown me to my room. Looking at him now, he is wearing a heather gray tshirt that hugs his body and jeans. I don't think I've ever seen him dress so casually but I suppose I am in his home now.
He leaves the woman's side and strides down the stairs toward me confidently. He stops in front of me but continues to look over me his face showing slight shock.
I turn around and look to see the garden is full of blooms and at peak health. Was that because of me? But I'm not a green witch I have done other things that green witches can't do?
I turn to look back at the king who is now looking down at me with an unreadable expression. He stares into my eyes for a few minutes before he finally opens his mouth to speak. "Liliana, this is Myrtle one of my trusted witches. She has agreed to come and help you learn to harness your magic."
I look to where she is but see her standing beside the king who steps to my side now. She smiles brightly at me before holding her hand out to me.
"Myrtle Rain! It's nice to meet you." She says in a chipper voice waiting for me to accept her greeting.
"Liliana Junius. The pleasure is mine." I say with a slight smile grabbing her hand, but her smile falters. She looks to the king and back to me before releasing my hand and putting on an awkward fake smile.
"Well, your a green witch then? Well, clearly you made this garden come back to life. I've never met a green witch before. I honestly thought they were all a myth, but here you are."
She rambles and I just stand awkwardly listening to her. She seems nice enough I just have a guard up because I'm not sure if she is really on my side here.
"I'm a healer witch maybe I can demonstrate on your wrist if you let me?" She nods to my braced wrist and I look to it with wide eyes.
Is it really possible for someone to heal another with magic? I don't have a book on that yet which means I need to study everything she does and write down notes on her later.
I nod cautiously and she takes my hand guiding us inside the palace. I notice the king following behind us and she takes us to a sitting room.
She pushes me softly to sit on a chair as she kneels in front of me placing both hands on my wrist. The king stands beside my chair looking to my wrist. I shift uncomfortably as she begins chanting gibberish softly.
My hand tingles slightly and I feel my magic inside of me awaken and move through my body to my hand. She pulls her hand away quickly holding them like they were shocked and looks to me before my wrist again. I feel a warm sensation in my wrist before it dissipates quickly. I take my brace off and move my wrist with ease looking to Myrtle with a big smile on my face.
"Thank you that was amazing!" I say cheerfully but she barely smiles before looking to the king.
I look to him and smile he returns it with a warm smile of his own. I stand up and throw my arms around her before I turn and head toward my room to change into training clothes and join the session. I put on forest green shorts and a white sports bra throwing my hair in a ponytail and heading toward the back door of the palace.
I walk out heading toward the training field where I can see everyone training. Aleric is leading as always and most of the wolves look worn out. The next second Aleric looks concerned his eyes scanning around and he shouts to everyone who quickly shift and spring into action leaving the training field.
I am about to follow when I feel someone grip my arm. I turn to see Myrtle behind me holding my arm tightly with a serious look on her face.
"The kingdom is under attack. The king wants you to come with me to safety." Myrtle says quickly before she begins dragging me along with her.
I stumble over my feet as I look around trying to keep up with her. When we make it to the gardens she pulls us in the opposite direction away from the palace toward the maze of hedges. I slow down but she continues dragging me into the maze.
"Why not go in the palace it should be secure enough." I ask but she does not answer me and continues dragging me along with her.
I trip over some branches but manage to keep up until we come out of the other end at the edge of some woods. I stop not letting her take me any further until I get answers. She huffs but doesn't let go of my wrist and turns to me.
"Why do you have to be so damn difficult." She says in an annoyed tone her eyes sharp no sign of joking in her tone.
I look in her eyes and a chill runs down my spine I grow nervous and my palms begin to sweat. I see several sets of glowing eyes in the forest in front of me and my body goes rigid. I yank my hand from hers and book it into the maze weaving through trying to make it to the other side. His gold eyes fill my mind and I feel my heart pounding against my chest from running.
"Ark!" I throw my head to the sky shouting as loud as I can.
Since he is a lycan he should've been able to hear me and pinpoint my location immediately. I just hope he comes fast enough because with doing that the wolves would've heard me also.
I run farther and see the opening to the garden and I push my legs harder than ever. I hear the wolves behind me and I see Myrtle out of the corner of my eye. She lunges for me but I duck catching a couple of frills of the shirt she was wearing ripping them off. I drop them on the ground outside of the maze before I feel a wolf collide with my back their claws running down my skin.
I scream out in pain right as my body collided with the ground the wolf sliding off of me. I perch myself on all fours before my hair is yanked up and I'm looking into the eyes of Myrtle. A sharp blow to the back of my head makes everything go black until I lose consciousness.
