Chapter 22
“That was a great presentation,” an elderly man in an expensive suit said to Blake. He stood outside the nearest conference room to the auditorium, and Alicia saw him shake hands with the man.
“Thank you,” she heard Blake say.
“I’ll expect more from you in the future,” the man replied. They shook hands again, and then Blake turned.
Their eyes met. And in that moment, Alicia saw the truth written clearly on his face.
He had betrayed her.
Alicia felt cold all over and staggered backwards. She’d been sure he wasn’t like the other guys. How could Blake do this to her? She’d thought they’d become friends who truly respected each other. Was this who he really was?
