Alicia felt hands grab her out of the way and twirl her into a strong embrace. She looked up to see herself in Blake’s arms. Warm. Safe. Those were the words that popped into her mind. A part of her wanted to savor the feeling, but she quickly came to her senses.
“Are you okay?” She heard the panic in his voice.
“What? Yes, I’m fine.” Alicia stepped away from him and tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear. “Why?”
“You almost got hit by a motorcycle!”
“What? Really? I…” Alicia looked behind her and saw the taillight of a motorbike disappearing into the night. “Thank you for saving me.” She looked down. She wasn’t standing on the road. “But why was he on the sidewalk?”
