There was a soft knock on the door. One tap. Two. Three. A long pause before someone cleared their throat. Xavier hauled himself away from me. Bastian released his grip on my arms and I almost plummeted to the floor in front of me. All of my limbs were weak. Wobbled from the effort to stand. I spun around, facing the door head on and backed up. My knees hit the side of the couch and I sat down rather ungracefully. From the corner of my eye I saw Xavier smirk.
