Elara'S POV
It had been forever since I’d sat quietly in the library, a book in my lap, and the hearth crackling with a cozy fire. Jace had been kind enough to bring me a mug of hot cocoa after clearing away lunch. It still felt strange being waited on all the time. But when the butler checked in on me, the choice was either get my ass downstairs to the cafeteria, or stay put, read my book, and let him bring me lunch.
Call me lazy.
I sucked in another marshmallow and let it dissolve on my tongue. The sugary sweetness coated my taste buds as I continued reading about pirates battling sea monsters, while the rakish captain protected the damsel in distress who had yet to give into his charms.
