“We’re on lockdown,” Xavier said. “No one is allowed in or out without my express permission. Is that clear?”
The household staff and guards had all been called together for a meeting after the subdued wake we’d had for the vampire who’d been killed last night.
JACE cleared his throat. “What about my niece, sir? She goes to high school in the city.”
Right, ANALYSSA was the young vampire who’d joined me, AYA, and NALANIE for a couple of movie nights.
I spoke quietly to Xavier. “She would be safest here. I think JACE is the only family she has.”
He nodded once. “She can do her schooling from here. Bring her home and place her under our protection.”
The butler’s features relaxed with his relief. “Thank you, sir.”
