Viola wished that if she couldn’t wake up, at least she could faint. No such mercy presented itself and she continued to stare at the scene before her. The man’s screams had ceased as he dropped to the ground. The raven took a moment to clean his talons on the man’s shirt before turning an eye toward her. She felt blood dripping off her chin from the cut on her face. But all her attention was for the raven, looking at her quizzically. She jumped backwards when he spoke, his voice somehow rough and melodic at the same time. “You don’t remember why you’re here, do you?” Viola didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, or scream. “I am dreaming…”, she whispered. “Well, yes”, croaked the raven, shaking out his feathers as he glanced back out toward the main clashes still in progress. “But not in the way you think.” With that he began walking further into the shadows. Shrugging one wing in a gesture that somehow conveyed a directive to follow him. “Am I really taking direction from a bird?” She wondered. But with another look at the mayhem in the other direction, she made a helpless gesture and followed.
