19 Four rectangular windows in one peach-coloured wall allowed morning sunlight to stream onto a wooden table where Antauran and Leyrian diplomats faced one another. From Anna's perspective, the Leyrians were on her left, a line of ten of them in colourful jackets and high-collared shirts. Men and women alike, all looking very serious indeed. Her father was about halfway down that line, watching her. The Antaurans were on the opposite side of the table, and their fashions were a little more ostentatious. They also wore colorful coats – reds and blues and greens and blacks – but theirs were marked by embroidery in gold and silver thread. And the colours were a few shades brighter, which was one point in their favour. All of that was nothing beside the telepath – a woman with a round face
