Damon’s POV It all makes sense now—the feeling of familiarity I felt the minute she walked in. My chest tightens as I watch her, the way she inspects my ankle. I feel the heat of her touch as certain memories I thought I had locked away resurface. As the recognition sets in, I fail to realize the urgency of the current situation. The panic in her eyes finally snaps me out of my daze. "Winter?" My voice is breathy and shaky, but I can’t stop her name from rolling off my tongue. She straightens, her anxious demeanor shifting to one of calm professionalism, but I can see through her feigned composure. "Yes," she says, struggling to steady her voice.
