"Blind dates are the trend now, huh?" Richard said, sounding clearly irritated.
Brandt chuckled. "You seem unusually interested in that girl."
A bit of heaviness settled in Richard's chest. Perry was pregnant and still showing up at blind dates—Mara's words were starting to sound less far-fetched. "She's good at what she does. I've worked with her before."
"Really?" Brandt perked up. "She's in medicine? Wouldn't have guessed—she's way too pretty for that stereotype."
"She's not just good," Richard said, surprisingly serious. "She's honestly top-tier in the medical field."
"Seriously?" Brandt's eyes lit up. That kind of praise coming from Richard wasn't handed out lightly.
Richard ordered two meal sets. "Anyway, enough about her. What have you been up to lately?"
