Mara was still zoning out in the hallway when she spotted Richard coming her way. She rushed over, "Richard!"
He didn't even break stride. Just glanced at her and walked straight past toward the elevator.
"Richard," she called again, keeping up with him. "Can we talk for a sec?"
He pressed the down button and stepped inside. Mara quickly followed him in. "Richard, do you really not feel anything for me at all? You used to say we'd be together!"
Richard's eyes turned cold. He'd just argued with Perry and was already in a foul mood. His voice was icy. "If you show up in front of me again... I swear, the Silverfang Pack will disappear."
Mara froze, shocked. She was just one woman—how could he talk to her like that? It felt like a slap in the face. Tears welled up again. "Why?
