Kael steps farther into the room, closing the door behind him. The soft click makes my whole body tense. I pull the blanket up to my chin and press myself against the headboard. “Jasmine,” he says quietly. “You’re shaking.” I don’t answer. He takes a slow step toward the bed. Not threatening. Not aggressive. Just careful. “What happened?” I stare at the blanket. “Nothing.” “That’s not true.” His voice is calm, but there’s an edge under it. Not anger. Worry.
