CHAPTER FOURTEEN The old man tottered out of the kitchen with a mug in each hand. He held them out to the two of us. “Here ya go.” I gingerly took mine, but Luca shook his head at the offer. “Thank you, but I’m not injured.” The man looked him up, and down with a keen and gentle eye. “Sometimes it’s not just the body that’s been hurt but the soul. This’ll help with that, too.” Luca smiled and accepted the mug. “Thank you for your help. We truly do appreciate it.” The man waved off his compliment. “Nothing to speak about.
