CHAPTER EIGHTEEN We strode across the street and up the elegant, lined walk to the front door. Together we stood shoulder to shoulder on the stoop and Luca used the Marley knocker to announce our arrival. I noticed Luca reach into his cloak and draw out a bright gold ring which he placed on his right hand. Before I had time to ask him about it the door opened, and we were presented with the sharp face of an older gentleman. He was attired in a suit so crisp I wondered that he didn’t crackle like a bag of potato chips. The ones without all the air.
