“Don’t hurt your neighbors and friends if you don’t know how it feels to be hurt. Put yourself in other people position before you react it matters a lot and don’t take advantage of people who love you, for them to express their feelings it takes the grace of courage.” Tiwa noticed everyone’s reaction towards her, she felt a sharp knife stabbing her from the back, she wished she was never proud. She started thinking of changing her character, attitude as well as her behavior, towards friends, enemies, juniors and seniors. She was really ready to change but she felt that she needed help to change. She thought of going to her friends’ dormitory to ask for help. “Hey guys.” She received no response from Vivian and Achiever. “Am sorry, am deeply sorry.” Tiwa pleaded. “If you are sorry then go and apologize to Mike and not us.” Achiever reluctantly talked. “I am ready to change as well as apologize to Mike.” “Then go ahead.” Vivian told her with a harsh tone which signifies that she is still angry. “Am sorry na, the thing there is that I don’t want to date anybody.” “We understand as normal human beings that if you are in a relationship it is either because of love, trust or money and it is also your decision to make, the only mistake you made is allowing your hatred for Mike to take full control over you that you were talking shabbily to him.” Vivian said. “I know, I realized my mistake already.” “Go ahead to apologize then.” Achiever added “Yes I will, but I also need your help to change, I can’t change all by myself.” “We can’t help you to change, if you are determined to change, you will. Good day.” Immediately after what Vivian said, she and Achiever left Tiwa wondering all by herself. The last word they said kept on mumbling in her head. “I better go and beg Mike before it is too late.” It was time for all hostel student to visit the dining to eat dinner. Tiwa is not hungry, but she felt it was right to go to dining, on a normal day if she was not hungry she stays back in the hostel but because of one or two things she has to go there. When she got there what came to her mind is the question “where is Mike.” Finally, she saw Mike in the midst of his mates, gisting and jesting. She went there to call Mike but he did not hear her so she moved closer. “Mike, Mike.” Tiwa shouted to everyone’s hearing. “Are you calling me.” Asked Mike. “Yeah.” “Am not sure you are the one maybe it is somebody else.” Ayo said to Mike. “Yes you are correct.” Mike replied. “Mike I need your attention please.” Tiwa pleaded. “It seems you are the one she is calling.” Sunday said. “Ehn me keh.” “See she is pointing at you.” “Jesus what have I done to this lovely wicked witch to be seeking for my attention now.” Mike said aloud to the hearing of Tiwa. When she heard all of this from Mike she is downcast and weary, it is boldly written all over her face. “Em em em hey.” Mike stammered which made it obvious that he is scared of Tiwa. “I only want to talk; I mean no harm.” Tiwa pleaded. “Y…yeah am listening.” “Okeydokey, I want to say that I am sorry for that f*****g thing I did to you in the class. I am really sorry, please accept my apologies.” “Oh no, don’t tell me you have not forgotten about that. I have longed forgiven you, in fact it is normal for everyone to behave that way.” “Are you sure.” “Yes, perfectly sure.” “Thanks.” Tiwa said rest reassured. “You are welcome.” “Can we be friends at least now that we are not fighting again.” “Yeah, but you have to promise me…” “That what.” “No more avoiding, argument, fighting and lastly that eyes of yours that scares me all the time start giving me a smiling face apart from that we are okay.” “My eyes scares you all the time, you are funny.” “Am serious.” “Okay catch up some other time.” “Yeah can’t wait.” Tiwa left smiling and satisfied having settled the dispute between her and Mike. Likewise, Mike he is excited that his greatest fear will no sooner be his greatest strength. Mike returned to his position with his friend still in surprise. “What did that motherfucker tell you?” Ayo queried him. Mike is not given the chance to talk a lot of questions were thrown at him. “Hey guys at least let me reply one after the other, she wants us to be friends.” “Don’t tell us that the motherfucker wants you guys to be hanging out?” Pamilerin asked. “Yeah.” “Like couples?” “No, like friends.” “You sure?” “Yes.” “The asshole does not want to date you.” “I don’t know and don’t you ever use the a, f and m word when talking about her.” Mike said angrily. He waited for response but he got none. “Do you understand?” “Yessss, we got it.” “Better.” The gisting session came to an end, the matrons and patrons of each dormitory ushered all the hostel student down to the field for silent hour. The rules guiding the hour is dishonored by most of the seniors, someone like Ayo and his cohort the talkative. Still surprised about what transpired between Mike and Tiwa, Ayo broke the silence. “Are you sure she wants nothing else other than been friends with you or are you keeping something away from us.” Ayo threw the question at Mike. Mike can’t belief these utterances were coming from Ayo. “I am sure you don’t want us to talk about this ad nauseum again.” “Yeah sure.” Not satisfied with the answers given to him by Mike. Ayo kept quiet and the whole place was cool for relaxation. Immediately it is 7:00 pm the students were released to go to the classroom for their prep which means the preparatory class. Till the end of the day Mike pondered over and over again until his eyes finally fits it right to go to bed. The breeze blew nicely in the morning followed by the sound of a c**k signifying that it is morning already. Mike and all other students woke up and took their bathe, dressed up and went to the dining hall, after that they were set for school. During break time, Mike did not go out because he does not feel like so he stayed back in the class and decided to read so as not to make the class boring for him. Then out of nowhere he saw Tiwa approaching, his heart started beating fast. “Hi Mike.” “Wassup Tiwa.” “Why staying in the class.” “Don’t just want to go out.” “No, ooo let’s hang out and talk.” “Okeydokey.” After that day Tiwa and Mike became no ordinary friends but best of friends and the love Mike have for her grew stronger.
