Ryan’s POV

‘The wolves surrounded us and Christ knows I am more than scared to even think of breathing. Just while I was thinking on what to do, the wolves moved and became a pack. Maybe they wanted to attack us in the same angle.’ I heard Tiwa’s thought. I smiled knowing she is scared.

“Ryan, what will we do?” Tiwa panicked. I bet she haven’t met with situations like this so she probably doesn’t know what to do.

“On the count of three we run 3,2,1 run.” I yelled and we ran as our legs could carry us.

“What should we do? They are running faster than we are.” Tash panicked. I think it is only the females that are panicking. ‘I mean what the hell in this world is wrong with men? They don’t seem to get scared in any goddamn situation. We were still on the run and trust me, I was getting tired. I want nothing more than for these wolves to stop chasing us and we get a freaking good rest. We were far enough from the wolves but they were still chasing us.’ Tiwa is sure one that panics anytime she is a very bad situation.

“Stop guys; why not let us lit a fire. It will stop the wolves from moving closer to us.” Tiwa suggested.

“That’s a brilliant idea. Okay guys dispatch and look for enough woods to keep them away for the rest of the day.” Ope said. He has said literally nothing on our way and now the next thing we are hearing from him is a compliment? Wow that’s a good start for someone you are about to interrogate hun. We all looked for woods and when everything was ready Tash who is an Inferni, made some fire for us. Whoa, it was super close I mean it remained like 30 seconds for the wolves to catch up with us before we lit the fire. That’s insane. After doing nothing for the past half an hour, someone broke the awkward silence.

“Are you ready to tell me what the hell is happening?” Ope queried Tiwa.

“Can we talk about it sometime later?” Tiwa asked him more of like pleaded with him because she made the pleading eyes. Instead, he disagreed with her and said;

“What other time is more good that now?” he asked her sounding upset.

“Okay fine, this is what happened.” She began.

What is happening to me? How come Faith, my own bestie testified against me and nobody believes me. And who was that on that footage because I am sure as hell I am not the one on that footage. My mom will not believe me neither Treasure will. I got expelled from school definitely there is no school in Nigeria that will take me in. I bet even if I wasn’t expelled no one will want to accept me into their school because of my video that is trending. I was wandering the streets of ikenne town. I have no destination so I kept walking and I lost track of time. And then when I finally stopped to look at my surrounding, I found out that I am in front of the most tallest building in Sagamu. The OG’s corporation is a well-known company and it is a 59 storey building. I was about moving away from it when something struck my mind. I decided to go to the roof top and I snuck my way in. On my way, I felt like I was being stalked. Anytime I turn back the person disappears into the thin air. I was less concerned anyways because I was feeling too bazzzz Gurdened so if I am being stalked or if I am to be kidn*pped. What’s the point in living anyways. I successfully made my way to the rooftop with less stress because I have been on an excursion here when I was in school. There was no turning back I already have my mind made up. I moved near to the tip of the rooftop closed my eyes, feeling the breeze for the last time or so I thought. Without thinking for once, I jumped with my eyes closed.

For the past 1 minute, I kept falling it is like an endless falling, I thought maybe it’s because of the building is tall. After an extra minute as a science student I realised the law of gravity have been defied here. When I opened my eyes to see what’s happening, it got to me that I am in a portal.

“Wait! What? I am in a portal. A freaking portal.” I said out loud.

What the F is happening to me. Can this day be any worse and when I was wishing to die I find myself in a freaking portal. To say I am terrified is an understatement. After a couple of minutes the portal opened up and men I wasn’t ready for the landing.

“Holy shit.” I winced in pain. I was still rubbing my waist and thigh when I noticed I was in an unfamiliar room. I looked around and I saw different kinds of people. They were all staring at me and I didn’t like it at all.

“Welcome to our midst Overlord.” They said and bowed when I was about to ask them about what this place is. I am right in the centre and they surrounded me with their heads bowed. Overlord?

Are they all the Overlord, I mean I am in their middle by mistake so I thought maybe they were all greeting themselves or someone in particular, so I just kept staring at them. After 10 minutes they all started murmuring and I guess it is from the cramps. Their back must hurt them badly now. Whoever the Overlord is should release them. Few seconds later, the entrance door flew opened and a woman in her late 40s came in.

“Won’t you tell them to rise? Their back must be aching right now.” The woman in her late 40s said.

“you heard the woman right? The Overlord should rise them up” I decided to bump in. after I said those words people started murmuring.

What have I done? i asked myself

“what are you doing? Don’t you know that you are the Overlord?” the woman in her late 40s was asking no one other than me.

“me? What are you saying? I definitely cant be the Overlord? I mean this is the place where the dead reside?” I asked more of like a statement.

“the dead?” she said something under her breath more of like she cussed and then she ordered the rest to go back to what they were doing before my grand entry.

At least now the poor people back wont ache. I said to myself easing a sigh of relief

“Now you….” I checked my surroundings to see who the woman was referring to only to see that the woman and I were the only one in the room.

“me!!!!” I exclaimed.

“who else am I referring to? So yeah you, follow me now.” The woman ordered.

I was hesitating. I mean is it time for my judgment because I’ve heard after death is one’s judgment. Will I go to hell? I asked myself

Yes you will most definitely go to hell. My subconscious mind said.

Hun! Why will I go to hell? I didn’t do anything wrong did i? I asked.

Do you really wanna know what you’ve done wrong? My subconscious mind asked

Yh! I wanna know. I replied my subconscious mind.

Well for starters you are rude, too proud and pompous. Remember when you were rude to Mike the first time you met? You were so rude and more so in the house of God. And you were pompous to th………………..

Yh so? We made up after that moreover he deserved it. Do you know what he did to me? I interrupted my subconscious mind.

Okay what about Ope? You were being unfair to the guy. My subconscious mind said.

I was being unfair to the person who believes I can do something as crazy as f**k around? I asked

Well! Who wouldn’t believe that? Even you yourself was convinced for a while that it was you. My subconscious mind is being truthful here tho.

Yh that’s true. But I cant be punished for that right? So tell me another reason I deserve hell and not heaven. I replied.

You were not grateful for the gift of life. Remember you committed suicide today and God doesn’t like who is not grateful. My subconscious mind said

Then it dawned on me that I really deserve to go to hell. I am disappointed in myself.

“there sure is a lot going on in that mind of yours” the woman said amidst laughter.

“am I really going to hell?” I asked at the brink of tears.

“come and see for yourself.” She urged.

I hesitated again but then my subconscious mind came back.

Well this is it for us! You have to go now or do you want to annoy the ALMIGHTY again by delaying him? At least it was your reckless action that got us into this mess. Go enjoy the eternal flame. My subconscious mind mocked me.

“where were you when I decided to take that reckless action and now when I don’t need you, you popped out of nowhere, cant you be anymore helpful in a state like this” I yelled out angrily and sarcastically not knowing I unconsciously walked out of the room already. All eyes were on me. Well its only natural for them to stare at me like I am some lunatic. I mean who the hell am I yelling at. Its only a lunatic that will be upset with her inner mind. Anyways, I mindlessly walked into the room the woman entered and holy kabusha it was beautiful. The outside seemed a lil bit nasty but this place is beautiful. It has so many different colours popping out its beauty.

“If this place is hell, I will gladly spend the rest of eternity here.”

“Leslie, is this the Overlord?” a man who I didn’t notice asked the woman that brought me in here. Hmm!! Leslie what a nice name. At least I get to know someone’s name.

“Yeah! Apparently she is the one the Most High sent to us” Leslie replied the dude.

“You are welcome in her midst Overlord and my name is Taylor.” The dude whom I just found out his name is Taylor said to me.

Okay! Maybe I was too drowned by the beauty of this room and it made me seem a little bit oblivious to the way they address me. Time for questions.

“Am I dead? Cause I can remember vividly that I didn’t fall of the roof and I was in a portal a freaking portal. And if I am not dead, what is this place? And if I am dead, is this how hell looks like? Why is he referring to me as the Overlord?” I asked quizzically. I needed answers.

“First of all, you are not dead, yeah you were in a portal and am sorry about that, I specifically told him to bring you in a grand style” she saw my questioning face and immediately knew I was going to ask questions but she talked instead of letting me do it. “by him, I meant Raj. And this place, is the magical realm. He referred to you as the Overlord because you are the Overlord and by that I mean you are the head of the magical world except the demon world.” She muttered the last part like she never wanted me to hear that.

“Wait WHAT! The Overlord? What kind of nonsense is this, no offence. I am Tiwatope and I am born of a normal being so aint the Overlord or are y’all kidnappers?”

“we are not kidnappers, we are here to serve you and teach you things you are yet to know and for the normal being part, we are as surprised as you are.” Leslie said

“teach me thing I am yet to know? I mean if you know things am yet to know why not lead yourself. Do I even have a choice in this life you want me to live? What will happen to my family? I am sure they will be freaking out by now if they cant find their precious daughter.” I yelled. Its not my fault i am being like this. You cant just kidnap someone and tell her that she is a magical being and she is supposed to believe that.

“The Higher up sent you so you can save the world from impending doom. And as for the choice, yes you have a choice which is, you either accept this as your fate or your family and the whole world perish.” She yelled back.

“Are we yelling now.” Taylor decided to make known that he is in the room, by YELLING.

“is that even a choice? Fine if this so called place is a magical world, show me some magic to make me believe.”

“What do you want me to show you?” Leslie asked.

“Some magic. Do something like make sandwich appear because I am craving one.” Yeah even that is if you have magic.

“we don’t use our powers anyhow so am sorry.” She said

“okay you said I am the ‘Overlord’ then I must have magic then. Hmmm lets say fireballs, flying, making something come closer. None is working and you want me to believe this magical stuff?” I asked.

“You have to discover it yourself. What kind of power you have.” Leslie replied.

“okay I have had enough of this I am going home.” I said.

“Wherever you go don’t pass that gate. There are some demons out there.” Taylor told me.

“what’s the point anyways, she cant go home cause she doesn’t have any powers. She will eventually come back here.”

“thanks but I don’t believe a tiny thing you say.” I said

I was having enough of this, so I just kept walking and people kept bowing. They should really stop this nonsense. I wont feature in whatever movie they are shooting. I got to a certain point I didn’t know where to pass so I asked couple of people and they showed me the way. When I got to the gate, I started contemplating, should I open the gate, should I not open that gate? Maybe they were saying the truth after all and if they are saying the truth, a demon will definitely attack me. But then again, if a demon is outside the gate, they wouldn’t have let me go alone. Moreover, this gate might be the way home and he only used the demon to scare me. With that mind-set, I opened the gate and closed it. I took a quick glance at everywhere and saw no demon, definitely they were lying. I started walking, why will they go through all that length to make me join feature in their movie, they could have just talked to me and we could make a contract. I heard some squeaky noise and then I turned back and saw nothing. Maybe it was my consciousness. Then I turned my head back to the front to continue walking that was when I saw a beautiful girl. She is about 3 to 5 years of age. I smiled at her and was about to bend to her height so I can pat her head but what happened aint something I wanted to witness. She changed into her beast form. She was magnificent. I was still amazed by what I saw before my instinct popped in

She is a demon and I think you should start running. My subconscious mind said.

I picked race and ran and ran until I got tired. Where the f**k is this gate. It was here right? There was no time to waste so I continued running and suddenly I fell. I stood up to continue running but this thing caught up to me already. It was about to munch me before I saw myself back in Taylor’s room. Did I just vanish from there like a thin air? Leslie was scolding me but all I hear is muffled noise before I blacked out.

When she was done guess what happened, we all started laughing. I mean is she dumb or what? For someone to be in an unknown land and acting foolishly is what she thinks of? I have never see someone like her before.

“Why ya’ll laughing?” She asked us.

“We are laughing at your stupidity.” Tash said.

“You were in an unknown land so you were supposed to listen to them but you stupidly went all out instead.” I mocked her.

‘Very good of them but I wasn’t upset so I laughed with them. The rest of the night went well. Everything went well and good.’ She sure does know how to express herself in her mind.
