“Wherever we find ourselves we should humble ourselves because we don’t know what tomorrow holds”
For the remaining holidays it was like hell for Tiwa and she could not stand the fact that school has not yet resume she looked forward to the day when she would leave her mom house.
“O God I can’t wait for resumption day ooo, I should even leave this house and I should be happy, at least free from troubles and blames.” She often says to herself.
Finally, the day Tiwa longed for is now here. It was on a Sunday morning the day she was to resume to hostel. She was perplexed to find out that she is no longer going to attend her former school and she has been transferred to another school. Recovering from the shock she found some words slipping down her mouth. To herself she mumbled.
“I am going to miss my friends.” Her mother who saw her face clearly read the expression on her face.
“With the look on your face, I can see that you are not ready to change your school”
“But mom I………...”
“No buts, the deed has been done I filled the form already okay.” Tiwa is not responding.
“Am I clear.” Not satisfied she nodded her head and managed to say
“Yes ma.” Grace continued with what she was saying.
“It has been submitted to the school you are transferred to.” Meanwhile with the way Grace has been talking Tiwa listened to none of it. Her mind and soul was completely out of the house she left only her body in the house, she was thinking of how she will make new friends in the school. She felt bad. Noticing that her daughter was not listening to her she sighed and felt she should have told Tiwa and listened to her own view about it at least it is her life. Tiwa felt a sharp pinch on her cheek and then she came back to reality breaking the silence.
“Ouch.” Tiwa felt the pain.
“What are you thinking about” queried Grace. Tiwa could not fathom some things, she is loss of words.
“You can visit your school later as an old student.” Seeing that her daughter is not interested in the conversation she left for her room. Grace thought that Tiwa friends Heritage, Azeezat, Isabell and Love were bad influence on Tiwa. After few words from Treasure, Tiwa later got the courage to go to school.
“At least go and have a taste of how other schools behave” Treasure advised.
“Yes I know I will tell mom that I am ready to comply.”
“Good of you.”
Tiwa headed for her mom’s room and she apologized and told her she was ready to go to school. Her mom was happy and they headed for the school right away. The school is an old school located at Ikenne-Remo. The name of the school is Mayflower school.
Finally, they arrived there, on seeing the buildings of the school Tiwa got discouraged but she decided to stay put on her mom’s word that the school has its own standard and it is the best in Ogun state and the fact that something in her was telling her to overlook the buildings of the school and look forward to the teaching standard of the school and learn with keen interest.
With the help of matrons and old students of the school, they were able to locate the girls hostel and got her admitted as soon as possible with little or no stress. The students helped her in carrying her loads because it was too much for her, Grace and Treasure helped also in carrying the luggage's . When Grace and Treasure were through with helping her, she escorted them to the gate, she could not pass the outer gate because officially she is now a member of the hostel students and also that she signed in already. Her mom gave her the sum of #5,000 as her pocket money and gave her matron the sum of #10,000 In case she wants to buy books or her pocket money is finished. She thanked her mom and they parted ways. Grace knew quietly well that her daughter was a spend thrift and it was not her fault her dad gave her things she asks for and those she didn’t ask for.
As a person who is quintessential and an expert in socializing with people Tiwa had friends the same day she resumed, she came in contact with two friends their names are Vivian and Achiever. They became best of friends after getting to know each other. The next day which was Monday they were woken up by the matron in charge of their room. Along with her besties and her roommates they all set out to bathe. The activities of the school were so full of stress that. She did admission and was given full admission in the school. She is now a bona fide member of the school with her class SS1 Brown and her student number 30991. She was happy when she found out that the school standard was really good and she loved everything about the school. No sooner were she and other students given orientation by the principal of the school.
After spending up to three weeks she found out that the guy she insulted in church was actually in the same school with her. Finally, they came in contact, face to face and she was surprised and also scared because he was her senior in the school. She wanted to ignore him and pretend as if she did not see him but instead Mike came forward to greet her.
“Hey girl , what a pleasant surprise.” Tiwa tried to mumble some few words relieving from the shock and facing the reality that she was in front of him once again, she flashed back to the incident of that fateful day.
“Hi, so is this the school you attend?”
“Yeah nice meeting you.”
“it’s my pleasure Mike.”
“Oh so you know my name?”
“Yep”
She remembered that after she insulted him she later found out that his name is Mike and he is not a pauper, he is the owner of a famous oil company, Michael Anderson.
“So then my princess can I know your name?” She hated the fact that he was calling her princess. Only her dad has the right to call her princess. She misses her dad so much that she remembered the nice times she and her dad played but, now she can’t and that is because her dad was now busy with work and meetings from here and there.
“My name is Tiwatope, but you can call me Tiwa or TT”
“What a nice name “
“Thank you.” That did not come from her mind. After the greeting, Mike pointed out his class to Tiwa.
