Aman had been watching Ishaan’s changes. It’s been a while since Aman had never seen him like this… happy and cheerful again. Aman and Ishaan did not had any boys night since the breakup. So he decided to have one.
Aman went to Ishaan’s room in his office and said “Bro, let’s go out tonight. Drinks at the local bar. I wanna check in on my favorite married man,Ever since you got married, it feels like you’re ignoring your best friend ” he joked.
Ishaan rolled his eyes but smiled. “Alright, alright. I’ll meet you there.” Ishaan came home and got ready to got out with Aman.
Before leaving, he found Aarohi sitting on the floor, playing with Teddy.
“I’m heading out for a bit. Meeting Aman at the bar,” he told her.
She looked up and nodded. “Okay, have fun.”
He hesitated for a second before adding, “If you need anything, just call me.”
Aarohi smiled. “I’ll be fine. Teddy and I have plans to binge-watch movies.”
He chuckled. “Sounds like a solid plan.”
As he left for the night, there was a strange sense of comfort settling between them.
Watching Arohi and teddy, Ishaan realized that it didn’t feel like he was escaping something anymore .
And for the first time in a long time, Aarohi didn’t feel completely alone.
Ishaan sat at the bar, his fingers lightly tapping against the rim of his glass. The place was packed with weekend crowds, the air buzzing with loud music and laughter. Aman had dragged him out tonight, hoping a change of scenery would be good for him.
But fate had a cruel sense of humor.
Even in the sea of people, his eyes immediately landed on her.
His ex.
She was seated in the VIP section with her CEO fiancé, laughing, drinking, and partying like nothing had ever happened. Like their six years together had meant nothing.
A sharp bitterness spread through Ishaan’s chest. He clenched his fists, his first instinct screaming at him to leave.
“I need to get out of here,” he muttered, already standing.
Aman grabbed his arm. “Bro, ignore them. Just stay for one drink. Then we’ll leave early.”
Ishaan exhaled through his nose, forcing himself to calm down. “Fine. One drink.”
He settled back onto the stool, deciding to keep himself in control. He wasn’t going to drink much—he had learned his lesson the hard way. Aman received an important call from his client.
Aman stepped outside to take a call, leaving Ishaan alone for a few minutes.
That’s when she made her move.
His ex walked towards him, her heels clicking against the floor, a smirk painted on her lips.
“Ishaan,” she said smoothly, stopping beside him.
He tensed but didn’t respond.
“You’ve been busy, haven’t you?” she continued, tilting her head. “I see you all over social media now. A cute little wife, puppy, and all. How quickly things change.”
Ishaan remained silent, staring straight ahead.
Her smirk widened. “You know, my fiancé—my successful CEO fiancé—he takes such good care of me. It’s a different world, Ishaan. One you could never give me.”
Ishaan gritted his teeth. He wasn’t going to take the bait. He refused to let her get to him.
But she wasn’t done.
“You were always so average,” she whispered, leaning in. “That’s why I left.”
Ishaan’s jaw tightened, but he took a slow breath, keeping his emotions in check. He refused to let her see that she had even the slightest effect on him.
Satisfied that she had humiliated him, she casually dropped something into his drink while he wasn’t looking.
Then, with a smirk, she walked away.
A minute later, Ishaan picked up his glass and took a sip.
A slow, sinking dizziness crept over him. His vision blurred slightly, his mind fogging over in a way that didn’t feel normal.
Something was wrong.
But he didn’t have the clarity to understand it.
The humiliation, the exhaustion—it was all too much. He just wanted to leave.
So he did.
Without Aman. Without realizing what had just been done to him.
