CHAPTER 26 AS SOON AS Connor stopped the truck, I rushed over to the stables and flung my arms around Folly’s neck. She looked a bit surprised but kept eating her hay anyway. A chuckle came from the doorway. “Looks like you missed her,” Jenny said. “I did.” I’d never had a pet before, or formed any sort of bond with an animal, so it surprised me how much of a soft spot I’d developed for the mare.
