CHAPTER 26 AS SOON AS Connor stopped the truck, I rushed over to the stables and flung my arms around Folly’s neck. She looked a bit surprised but kept eating her hay anyway. A chuckle came from the doorway. “Looks like you missed her,” Jenny said. “I did.” I’d never had a pet before, or formed any sort of bond with an animal, so it surprised me how much of a soft spot I’d developed for the mare. And when Connor and I chatted on the way over, I’d decided to try riding again after all. “How have you been?” Jenny rolled her eyes. “Last week we had a pair that were even worse than Annabel and Felicity, but apart from that, everything’s good.” “Ouch.” Connor sidled up behind her and put his hands over her eyes. “Guess who?” It wasn’t hard to tell—his low, smoky voice was a dead giveaway
