CHAPTER 1 Emily yawned noisily before stepping out of her big room. She opened the back door of her parent's mansion, sighing in relief as the cool night air blew to her face, causing her silver air to sway to the back. She moved her hands to her chest as she sat down on the relaxation chair in the garden. Her heart was thumping furiously; it was the night of her 21st birthday. She is so nervous because she is going to be revealed fully as an adult wolf the next day. She could feel signs that it was about to happen. She cupped her face in worry, staring into space as she thought of the responsibilities she was going to face the next day. She still was not satisfied with where she was and decided to take a walk outside the mansion. She stepped cautiously till she reached the gate opening it slowly so as not to attract the attention of the pack members and her brother. She stepped out into the fogged forest gingerly looking pleased. She raised her head to the full moon staring down at her. Her heart kept thumping hard against her chest. Her senses sharpened up alert as she heard rustling leaves from the other side near her. She turned back swiftly, ready to launch an attack on whatever or whoever was there. She lowered her eyes suspiciously when she found nothing of such. She drifted back to her thoughts but was hijacked again by that same sound. This time, her claws stood out so also her fangs ready to devour. She moved closer to that side with no iota of fear, peering intently into the dark. The sound was coming from the back of a mahogany tree. "Whoever you are, show your face right now!" She barked a command like the powerful wolf she is. She waited for a second but heard no movement. "Come out yourself, or I'll help you out myself." She said getting more aggressive. No response came, she launched forward but stopped in her tracks. A hefty, muscular man came out from behind the tree with striking blue eyes. Notwithstanding the dark, his blue eyes stood out glistering brightly. Emily was dumbfounded for a while before coming back to her senses. She returned to her cold and scary aura. "Who are you and what are you doing here." "I'm Ridan, and I'm doing the same thing you're doing here, strolling." Emily squeezed her face in return. The name strikes a chord. Ridan...she clicked her tongue as she tried remembering where she heard the name from. His face was covered with darkness and only the side of his face did she see. She wondered if she would be able to recognize him some other time. She gave up trying to recollect where she had seen him before. Emily jerked back as the man's long fingers came towards her. "What are you trying to do?" She asked dangerously moving her hand to the dagger under her gown. She's always armed and prepared, not losing guard even once. "Relax your shoulder, lady; there is something on your face." As if something in his voice subjected Emily to be still. She watched as he touched her face gently, trying to remove the so-called thing on her face. The hand on her dagger weakened as his touch paralyzed her. She froze when he swayed his hands around her face tracing her jawline and chiseled nose down to her pink smooth lips. Something sparkled in her head, she felt something she never felt before. Before she came back to her senses, he was already trailing her neck. She pushed him back pulling out her dagger and aimed at him. Emily marveled at the skill in which he used to dodge the attack. He was surely a good fighter. She increased the tempo at which she attacked him. Taking him off guard, she placed the dagger on his throat ready to slit him up at any slight move. "Who are you and what's your mission meeting with me." She asked gritting her elongated fangs. "You are one strong woman. I told you earlier that I'm strolling." "I know that you're lying, young man, and I won't hesitate to slit open your throat if you provoke me further. Within a blink of an eye, the man reversed taking Emily off guard. She swung the dagger again but met with sn empty air. She looked around in despair, trying to figure him out; he was already. "s**t!" She exclaimed, angrily throwing the dagger to the nearby tree. She huffed as she sat down at the foot of the tree her mind drifting back to her coming birthday. After a while, she returned to the villa as quietly as she came out. She tiptoed into the kingdom not wanting to alert the pack members. "Ahhhhhhhh." She screamed in horror as she stepped on a set of feet. "Are you okay little sissy?" Emily looked up at her elder brother, Leonardo holding her head in frustration. "You scared me, Leonardo. What are you doing here?" "I should ask you that sister. Where are you coming from?" "Sigh...let's go into my room." She said as she made her way to her room accompanied by her brother. Emily Leonardo is the only child of their deceased parents. They both have a cordial relationship and confide in each other. Even with the fact that Leonardo is the first child, he is the second in command. Before their parents died, they took over the kingdom and packed to Emily. There is a followed tradition in this werewolf kingdom, which is that the next leader is not just chosen by head knowledge, but their gods must be consulted. Emily at first rejects this offer; she cherishes her brother and doesn't want anything to jeopardize their relationship. To her surprise, Leonardo didn't get angry a bit and, with all his heart, let go of the kingdom to her. He helped her train so well since she was to be the leader. Emily hasn't even started telling her brother what she went out to do as she slept off in her brother's arms.
