Chapter 10: Come and Get Her

312 Words
Micky’s POV --- I knew something was wrong. She didn’t need to say it. I felt it in her silence. The way she barely touched her food. The way her eyes kept flicking over her shoulder. The way her body tensed every time her phone buzzed like she was bracing for a blow. So I played it cool. Let her lie to me. Let her pretend. But in my head? I was already loading bullets. I was halfway through unlocking the apartment door when I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. Private number. No name. No ID. Just a message. > You should’ve kept f*****g her and walked away, Micky. I froze. Tia didn’t see. She walked inside, headed straight for the bedroom. Another message came through. > She’s damaged goods. You really think you can fix what I broke? My jaw clenched. My blood turned molten. I opened the chat. Kept reading. > She was mine first. She’ll be mine last. You’re just a phase. A warm body with a big mouth. She moaned my name before she ever knew yours. Want proof? Ask her what happened in Mumbai two years ago. My stomach twisted. I knew Tia had secrets. That wasn’t the part that scared me. What scared me… was how deep this guy had gotten into her life. And now? He was coming for mine too. I locked the screen and walked to the bedroom like nothing had happened. She was sitting on the bed, pulling her hair into a messy bun, her back to me. I stood there for a second. Watching her. Burning. She turned. “What?” I smiled. But it wasn’t the soft kind. It was the kind I wore when I was about to bury a problem six feet under. “Everything’s fine,” I said. “But we need to talk.”
