If one more person says anything else about me...I will explode. I will forget all that I am and supposed to be. When my phone starts going off, my eyes roll to the back of my head, and I nearly tumble back against the couch with them. I can't do this again. I just can't...I stop over thinking. I stop breathing. My phone is ringing. Ringing, not pinging. Reaching for the device laying on the armrest, my toes curl at the sight of Jeremy Carlston's name flashing on my screen.
My heart shoots up into my throat, beating with adrenaline. Hard, fast. It was a drum's beat in my chest.
"Hello?" I answer the phone, keeping my voice as steady as I could while excitement and fear twined inside of me. A cold sweat broke out all over me.
