"Rise and shine, girl," a shrill voice said as my window curtains flew open, letting in a blinding stream of sunlight and causing me to close my eyes and shield them with my hand on instinct.
"What the hell was that for?" I groaned as I got into a sitting position on my bed, still shielding my eyes.
"What are you, a vampire?" she asked. "Can't deal with a little sunlight.
"No human just deals with sunlight directly in their face the second they woke up," I retorted. "And what are you even doing here?"
"And here I was thinking you'd be happy to see me," she sighed as she came to join me on the bed.
I finally stopped shielding my eyes once I was used to the light and then looked at her. "Why should I be?" I asked with annoyance evident in my voice.
