CHAPTER FOUR-OFFICIALLY STARTING WORK

435 Words
My head hurts badly who knows what Mr Moore wants, I grabbed my phone and made a call to his right hand assistant, I need his number and as foolish the assistant was he gave me the number without remembering I had been fired. Without hesitation, I called Mr Moore, It rang a few times before picking the call. "Mr Moore, my sister said you were here, what did you do, you already fired me, why won't you let me be, if this happens again, Mr Moore I won't be so polite." "Shut up, I doubt if you still need this job" I feel like my ears were betraying me again, my brain stopped processing anything for a dull-witted like me, this was already a big luck of my jinxs and now he is re offering me the job. "Don't be late" The call ended. I stared at my phone. My head was still pounding, but there was only one thought running through my mind. He gave me my job back. Why? I had already been fired. He had made it very clear that he didn't need me as his secretary. So what changed? My eyes drifted toward Alice. She was lying peacefully on the hospital bed, hugging her little teddy bear. The moment she noticed me staring, she gave me a sleepy smile. “Is it the handsome uncle?” I blinked. “What?” “Mr. Moore,” she said, as if it were obvious. “The handsome uncle.” I rolled my eyes. “You and your handsome uncle.” She giggled. Alice had liked him from the very first time they met. And, annoyingly, Mr. Moore had actually been nice to her. He had proved that he wasn't the heartless man I had made him out to be. Could that be why he gave me my job back? Because of Alice? I shook my head. That didn't make sense. Mr. Moore wasn't the type of person to make business decisions because of someone's little sister. At least, that's what I told myself. I walked over to Alice and adjusted her blanket. “I have to go to work.” Her smile immediately returned. “Are you going to see handsome uncle?” I sighed. “Yes, Alice.” She giggled. “Tell him I said hello!” “I'm definitely not doing that.” “Please?” I looked at her innocent face and sighed. “Fine.” I grabbed my bag and headed toward the door. I had no idea that walking back into Mr. Moore's office would change everything.
