POV | Aliah
Through the passing months I was more aware. I couldn’t shake the thought that Ace had met my wolf before me. Despite trusting him, I knew both himself, Kane and Col were hiding something from me. As determined as I was to investigate, it was also impossible. Trying to sneak around and observe three highly trained wolves was like trying to get blood from a stone.
Not to mention they had officially taken on their new roles in the Blood Moon Pack. Ace was now the official Alpha. Try sneaking around that. I was happy for the three of them, but something came with that happiness. For the first time since I’d met Ace, I was lonely.
Two days had passed since I'd been back at Blue Stone with Father. And all I could think about was what Ace was hiding from me. The only thing I'd managed to conclude from my investigation was that I would be a horrible detective.
Sitting in my bed I groaned, flipping back a couple pages on my book. I had been sitting here reading the same words countless times. My mind drifted far beyond the pages as my focus continued to dwindle from the text. Defeated, I slammed it shut, throwing it to the side.
Despite how many moons had passed I had gotten nowhere. Still a clueless as I was the day Ace said her name 'Amestris'
Then it clicked, there was still one person I had failed to ask. Father. Surely he knew something? He trusted me to be with the Blood Moon pack all this time. To create bonds and friendships, essentially a whole other family. Another pack I could call my own. For the first time excitement ran through me. Pushing myself from the bed I ran out of my room, headed straight for my Father's office.
Catching my breath I halted in front of the large oak doors. Rapping my knuckles against the wood three times as I anxiously bounced on my feet.
"Come in child" His stern voice sounded a moment later, pushing open the door I shut it quietly behind me before turning to him.
"What is it you need?" Father questioned looking up from the papers on his desk.
"I have a question..." He gazed on at me curiously before gesturing that I take a seat at his desk. With a small smile I step forward and sit in the grandfather style chair. The leather was a deep navy blue with mahogany trim around it. I remember the details as my mother had described them to me when she was decorating the pack house.
It was before my tenth birthday. We had gone around every room detailing all the Pieces of Furniture we wanted the woodworkers to make. Down to each distinct carving.
I ran the tip of my finger over the arm of the chair, tracing the loops of flowers and birds. These two chairs were the ones she let me help with. It was the last time we ever did anything together like a real mother and daughter before I changed. Now they kept in Father's office where she didn't have to see them.
But one day that would change, I was sure of it. That's why I was here now, to get answers from my father. They all knew something I didn't. Straightening my back I crossed my arms over my chest. The office fell silent, my throat dry as I held my stance.
Although I was determined, I hadn't really thought through the exact question I was going to ask. Ace, yes. I knew what I wanted to ask him.
'How did you know my wolf's name? Why am I treated differently? Why do I stay in the pack house with you, am I a part of the pack? Did you and my father make an agreement? Did he decide all of this?'
As my mind reeled I finally settled on the only question I could think to ask my Father out of all that ran through my mind "Why do I go to the Blood Moon pack?" The words rushed out of my mouth impatiently.
Leaning back in his chair his spoke calmly "It is safer for you to reside their at times my child, that is all"
"Because otherwise I'll die?" This time my statement was abrupt but direct. It wasn't a question and he knew it from the way his brows shot up "I remember the elders father. I remember going to their cave..."
"Aliah, it is far too complex for a child to understand" He interjected his words over mine as if telling me to stop. I knew I should. But instead, my body pulsed. Ears ringing for a split second as if the sound of my own beating heart flooded them.
My body tensed under his gaze, but I refused to look away.
"I understand that both you and Ace are hiding something from me!" Uncrossing my arms I slammed my hands down onto the sides of the chair. It creaked from the pressure of my grip.
"Enough child, you are to trust in my decision as your alpha" His voice boomed. Tingles ran over my skin. The sensation felt like a layer of armour had begun to form. Protecting me, strengthening me as I struck with all my anger.
"You're my Alpha? Ace might as well be since I'm there more than I am here" That's one thing you don't do. Defy the alpha even if he is your blood kin. His growl echoed through the room but I was too far gone. Anger coursed through me as if a surge of power. I felt my claws sharpen and fangs protrude as heat crawled across my skin.
The tingles that swarmed me became a comforting frame. It solidifying around me. Then I heard her.
Aliah... yes... this is what you were born to do....
Her words lit a flame in me as I growled at my father. His eyes went wide to which I smiled at the evident glow staring back at me within them. My eyes were glowing.
I was angry, I wanted answers. But for the first time in years I could hear her. The voice I had missed. The one I had craved... it was back. She was back.
Knowing I was getting nowhere with father I turned away, curious from her words 'this is what you were born to do' I may not have been able to see her, but she could see me.
"What was I born to do?" I whispered to the air. Shuffling sounded from beyond the door making my head snap in the direction of it. I could smell the scent of another wolf but still couldn't shake the fact that she wanted me to leave this room.
"Aliah..." Father stood from his desk, his words cautious as they sounded behind me. Looking over my shoulder I growled at him before storming out. I was angry. No, furious. My entire body fueld with heat, rage... power.
The sounds of doors slamming echoed behind me as I pushed through the hall. The air around me bubbled with energy as my skin continued to prickle from the warmth. I know they say that everything feels warmer when you connect with your wolf. Is this what this was? Was I connecting with her... Ametris?
Come Aliah... I'll show you what you were born to do... born to be...
Her voice filled my ears as I stood at the landing of the stairs. This time it was clear, stronger than before. I was right, she wanted me out of that room and closer to her. I needed to get outside. My fingertips spiked with pain as my nails continued to grow into pointed claws. All I managed was a growl before I rushed violently down the steps two at a time.
"Aliah stop!" Fathers voice rang loud enough that the entire pack would have heard. But I refused to listen...I couldn't. All I could feel was her, this heat, this power.
Gripping the handle of the door I ripped it open. Pain shot up my arm as I did. The glass of it shattered between the wooden frame, piercing my skin.
Ignoring the pain I stepped outside. The cool air only prickling my skin for a moment before the heat again consumed me. I looked on at the forest I had wandered into many times before searching for the voice, for her.
Aliah...
Growling I took another step only to howl in pain as the earth beneath my feet felt like hot coals. My head spun as I glanced down to see nothing but the dark and damp grass.
...weak... you're too weak Aliah...
"Weak?" I whispered only to whimper a moment later as the scorching pain shot through my throat. Scratch that, my entire body began to burn like I was on the Sun.
Pain surged through me until my knees went weak. Collapsing to the ground I dug my claws into the earth, groaning as they splintered in my skin.
This wasn't right. Not only did my skin burn, but the air around me felt like it was bubbling. Trapping me in a heated cloak made of steel. The strength and power I felt moments ago, now painfully suffocating me. I couldn't breath, I couldn't move.
"Aliah!" I heard someone scream but I couldn't react. The sound of their words feeling like pins being jabbed in my ears. I covered them with my hands, screaming before I began to cough. My lungs constricted in my chest as the pressure inside me built.
This was too much, she was right. I'm too weak for this.
Coughing again blood coated my tongue before everything went red. I screamed into the abyss as the pain grew more intense. Despite the taste of blood a new scent coated my nose. Fighting against the pressure that surrounded me I looked up, faint glowing eyes filled my vision in the distance before another wave of red coated it.
What's happening to me?
