The sight of Arthur lying motionless on the bed made my entire body go cold. His skin looked too pale against the dark sheets, his chest barely rising as if even breathing had become a burden.
My pulse roared in my ears as I turned sharply toward Megan who followed me back to the room.
“What the hell happened to him?” I demanded, my voice trembling with disbelief as I pointed toward Arthur’s lifeless form. “f**k it, I am asking you a question!”
When she didn’t answer immediately, something snapped inside me. I stepped closer to her, fury blazing in my chest. “I am asking you! What the hell happened to the alpha?!” I shouted, my voice echoing across the room.
The silence that followed felt suffocating. My throat went dry as dread crawled up my spine.
