Last Chance At Redemption

Awake

Ravens POV

I sit here frozen in shock. My body feels electric tingles all over the places where Liam touches my skin, his scent engulfs me causing me to eventually relax and give into his hug. I feel so calm and protected in his hold. I wish this moment could last forever but I know that it can’t.

“Liam, what happened? How did I get here? Where is Jeffrey?” I ask him while pulling away from his embrace.

“That bastard is gone. I killed him the moment I walked into the basement and saw what he was doing to you.” He responds with anger evident in his voice. Just then, I remember what Jeffrey had been doing the moment that Liam walked in, and I suddenly feel beyond embarrassed remembering the way that my body had been responding to the things that Jeffrey had been doing.

“Apparently, you unexpectedly went into heat, and he was exploiting that so you couldn’t be able to accuse him of r****g you against your will since you can not control your body’s responses during that time.” He speaks before I can say anything as if he had been reading my mind.

I’m extremely grateful that he found me when he did and saved me from that pervert. His sister is going to hate him for the rest of his life. Now he has issues with two of his family members because of me. He and his family have always hated me, so it doesn’t surprise me as much as his change of heart does. He said that we were mates when I was conscious before and the tingles that I feel confirms it.

“Why are you not surprised that we are mates? I thought you hated me. I also heard some stuff while I was passed out and I heard something about only being half a mate. What is that about?” I ask him, needing answers now.

“I am not surprised because I have loved you since we were children. Do you remember when we used to play together at the park?” He asks and looks at me with these puppy eyes as if expecting me to say yes.

“No” I respond truthfully. I have no idea what he is talking about. Me and him have never been close before let alone play at a park.

“Oh, I didn’t know you had forgotten.” He looks hurt now. “We used to play at the park often when we were younger. I would wait for you every day, and Ms. Louis would always take you there when she was able to finish her duties for the day early.”

I am shocked by what he is saying, and I try to go back through my memories but there is nothing there about playing with Liam at a park. I can’t understand why I would forget something like that. I think I would remember that if it truly had happened like he states. Ms. Louis did take care of me when I was younger but all we did was work, eat, and sleep together. She never had any time to take me to the park.

“One day, I asked you to be mine forever and said that I would make you my Luna and you had accepted. I was beyond happy and ready to declare it to the pack but unfortunately, my world was flipped upside down that day. See I was forced to take Tina with me to the park that day and she had been overhearing our conversation while we played together in the sand box. She attacked you and I attacked her in return to protect you, but she ran off to my father and told him everything she had heard plus more. She made up lies about how you had proclaimed yourself as Luna and my father became enraged” A tear rolls down my cheek while he speaks, and I feel a pain in my chest making me believe that I was there even though I can’t remember.

“My father promised to punish you if I continued to be your friend, and had you removed from the living quarters of Ms. Louis placing you into the basement. My heart broke that day when I found out you had received a beating just for being my friend. I wanted so bad to help you, but I couldn’t. I tried to help you once by leaving a plate of food for you but somehow, my father found out and had you beat claiming you had stolen the food even though he knew that I had been the one to get it for you,” Tears are falling down his eyes and mine freely. My chest feels tight and sobs form in my throat as these feelings of pain come forward as if they had been freed after being pushed down for so long. Liam comes closer to me once again and places a light kiss on my forehead before embracing me in a hug once again.

I try to control myself and stop the tears, but I can’t. Never had I expected to hear this from Liam. I always thought he hated me. I don’t understand why I can’t remember what he is talking about, but I can feel the pain as if the memory was there. Growing up in this pack, I knew that I was treated unfairly but always assumed it was because I was a rogue. I would have never guessed that it was because Liam had asked me to be his Luna when we were children. I have always lived my life trying to be a kindhearted person and maintain a positive mindset but as my brain thinks about how I have been wronged and Tinas role in it, I start to feel my temperature begin to rise and my vision begins to cloud. I have never liked Tina but a strong hatred for her begins to grow in me getting stronger by the second upsetting me even further. It is a feeling greater than I have ever felt before.

The more I think about it the angrier I get. How could they do this to me? I was just a child. Punishing me because my parents where traitors to the kingdom was one thing but because I was playing with the future alpha seems beyond cruel. I was only 9 when they had me beat for the first time and I remember being beat again a few days later when they accused me of stealing food that was in the basement. I was in pain for days afterwards since my arm and 2 ribs had been broken. These people are monsters. How are they allowed to run a pack while torturing children? Someone must stop them. I’m going to stop them. I will have my revenge. Tina will pay for what she has done to me, Alpha Michael will pay for what he has done to me, and so will everyone else who has caused me pain. They will regret what they have done.

“Raven, Raven answer me!” I can barely register my surrounding but recognize that I just heard Liam’s voice. “Raven!” he calls out again and it snaps me out of my thoughts. The anger I was just feeling is immediately washed away when I look into his eyes. Calm once again washes over me, and I can’t believe I was just so angry. I’ve never felt like that before.

“Your eyes” he says to me with a shocked expression on his face.

“What are you talking about?” I ask him and he stands up from the bed pulling me up with him. I get out of the bed and follow his lead. He takes me into the bathroom and points towards his mirror. I look at the mirror and I am shocked by what I see. My eyes are glowing! Like actually glowing! I gasp at the sight.

“What’s going on?” I ask to myself.

“I don’t know Raven. I have never seen anything like this before. It’s unheard of as far as I’m concerned. We need to get to the bottom of this.”
