Raven POV

“You foolish boy! You killed him! Your father is going to know that it was because of her and he is going to have you both punished!” Luna Marie shouts.

I want to open my eyes, but I can’t. My entire body feels numb. I can feel that I am on a comfortable bed, so I know for a fact that I’m not in the basement. The room that I am in spells like Liam. Could this be his bedroom?

“I am over 18 already and I should have been made alpha months ago! I am tired of father treating me like a child and governing everything that I can and cannot do. I do not care if he finds out. Jeffrey was close to r****g her when I intervened and had I not stopped him, he would have done it killing her.” Liam responds furiously.

“Why is she so important to you that you would risk your fathers wrath? How can you prove that he would have killed her to justify you killing him rather than bringing him up to the council for r**e like you should have?” Luna Marie sounds more worried than I have ever heard her before.

“She is still in heat. I had Dr. Ramon sedate her so she should be out for at least another day. As you know, A shewolf that is mated by another wolf after already finding her mate will die if she is weak. Raven has been malnourished and neglected for years. Do you think she would have survived?” Liam questions.

“How do you know she has a mate? Please do not tell me she is your mate. That mutt cannot be your mate Liam. Tell me it isn’t true!”

Luna Marie sounds disgusted. I would not have expected any more from her. She would never allow us to be together. This cannot be happening to me. Why does my life have to be so complicated? Out of all the wolves out there the moon goddess could have paired me with, I don’t understand why she would choose Liam.

He is probably going to reject me the moment I wake up and I know that’s when I’ll really die for good this time. I try to Wake up from my current state but can’t. I try wiggling my toes or fingers but nothing. I’m sick of lying here and hear them talk about me.

“It is true mother; she is my mate. Well, I think she is. Ryder says she is half our mate but doesn’t know what the other half could be. I don’t understand what that means. Yesterday must have been her birthday triggering her heat and I expected Ryder to recognize her fully, but he says that something about her is off.” Liam finally responds to her and I can’t believe what I am hearing. What do you mean half a mate? How can I be half a mate? What is wrong with me?

“Your father was right” Marie interrupts. “We always knew shed be a freak. She poses a risk to this pack, and we must report her to the elders.”

“You can’t do that. I need to figure out why she is only half a mate. Give me a few days to figure out what we are dealing with. Please mother do this favor for me. I have never asked you for much and have always obeyed all of your commands.” Liam pleads with his mother.

“Because you are my son and I love you, I will give you 2 days. If in 2 days, you haven’t come up with an answer we have to call the elders. Her parents were killed for threatening the nearby packs and could have been doing all types of experiments for all we know. As a future alpha, I expect that you understand your obligations to your pack. Their safety and well being are above any of your own needs and wants. I do not see your father handing down his position to you unless you prove yourself to be worthy of the title.”

Liam doesn’t answer right away and I can only assume that he is thinking about what the Luna just said. I have to get awy from here. I need to escape this place for once and for all. If Liam rejects me, I’m a goner and If he doesn’t reject me, I’m sure Alpha Michael or Tina will have me killed.

“ I understand what you are saying mother and believe me that I understand what my choices are. The pack is my priority. However, she is my mate. I feel like I have known this for a while and so have you and father. That is why he has always wanted me away from her. It has always bothered me to see her mistreatment and not be able to do anything about it. Now, Ryder has claimed her as his even though he has his doubts about her, and I will protect her from harm while in my care until I find an answer to all our questions. You know that I cannot physically hurt her and an alpha without his mate is a week alpha. I would be stronger with her if she does not pose a risk to our pack. I will have an answer for you in 2 days.” He sounds hurt and I’m more confused than ever.

How did he know that we were mates? Why didn’t he say anything before and even join in on the bullying when the other kids would be mean to me while we were growing up. This doesn’t make any sense. None of this makes sense at all.

I feel myself getting tired again and about to drift back into unconsciousness when I hear the door of the room open. “Well well, what do we have here? You killed one of the best wariors in our pack and think that I will allow you to keep this mutt up here with you so you guys can live happily ever after and you can make this worthless wh**e your Luna in the future?” Alpha Michael is clearly upset and is mocking Liam obviously antagonizing him.

“There is no way that this is happening. You are nothing more than a foolish little boy if you think that I would hand down my title to you so that you can run our pack into the ground.” I try again to wiggle my toes but again nothing. I can’t even hold on to consciousness any more and as I am about to black out I hear a growl and furniture break in the room. What is going on?
