Life here in the farm is so serene. We have a nice place to sleep and there's just so much to see and do.
I feel like it's more safe now. And it's all clearing up. So I can see Lily and
I decided to call Ji wan and ask him if he can go here for vacation with Lily. Je immediately said yes. And soon I was with him.
As I saw him at the farm's gate, his eyes were sparkling as he saw me.
He was wearing a casual attire since he was going to a farm.
I run to hug Lily. I embraced her for a long time.
"She really missed you."
Ji-wan beams a smile at us.
"I missed her too." I cuddle up with Lily more.
"I missed you too."
What I said probably caught him off guard.
We then went inside. I showed them to their rooms.
The farm house I am staying at only has two rooms, one for me and Lily and the two men have to share.
I reassure Ji wan that Tae yong doesn't stay here much and he's come and go.
He just smiles.
It's his smile that gives me a warm feeling. Almost as if someone is giving me a tight hug. No it's more than that. It feels like something within my heart.
I cook dinner for them that night. And we shared the food and warmth like a simple yet contented family.
It feels so great to be able to feed Lily again. Her smile gives me strength too. Her laugh makes me want to get up and fight another day.
I may not be her real mom, but I love this girl. She has been so close to me now. I'm so afraid of losing her.
That evening, we spent a few hours outside, we watched the stars as fireflies gently buzzed around us among the grass.
We were laying down on a picnic mat, side by side with Lily in between.
I listen to all her stories. And to his stories too. I look at both of them and hope we were actually a family.
For a moment I forgot That I don't have this massive responsibility on my shoulders. I lose my side that is cruel and the side that shows love shines.
Lily soon fell asleep. I carried her to our room and went downstairs again. I saw Ji wan downstairs making some hot cocoa for us.
We talked at the porch that night. Of all the things we missed about each other.
I still tease him about his height though.
Time came that we needed some sleep. We parted ways but then He called out my name.
"Liua."
I turn my head and look to him.
"I actually have something for you."
He takes out a small box and hands it to me.
I was skeptical about what was inside at first. but as I opened it, my heart was filled with this joy.
It was a necklace. With a butterfly pendant.
"Lily says you look like a butterfly. A really pretty one. That's why I bought that. I hope you like it."
It's probably only the second time someone gave me a necklace. I was so pleased about it.
"Thank you so much. Have a great night."
I close the box and hold it close. Then I proceed to go upstairs and return to my room.
I opened it once again as I sat beside Lily.
"Thanks for seeing me as a butterfly. Even when I see myself as a monster."
I stroke her hair slowly.
I then put the box at the nightstand and went to sleep.
The next morning I woke up with happiness written all over my face. I was just so cheerful that I was with Lily. And just to know that she is safe and healthy makes me feel at ease.
I just forget all my troubles whenever I'm with her.
That morning we went around the farm. Lily was a big fan of all the animals and Ji was was fond of the scenery. We took a lot of pictures. Ji was says he'll keep it at his home.
There was this one pic though that we took at the bottom of this big oak tree just near the house. As I took a peek at the picture we seemed so happy and carefree. How I wish it was always like this.
We had lunch outside the house. It was great.
Time went by just like that. The three of us having fun. Not caring about anything.
As Ji wan also stayed here, I became more open to him. About who I truly was.
It's better to be honest towards him. Especially now that we both are more obvious with our feelings. He listens, very well.
As I walk with him more, we grow fonder of each other. We look at each other and we just know.
He reassures me that he understands who I am, and what I need to do first.
He appologized too, since he might be a bother to me now.
"You're not."
I smile and we walk on.
After a while, Ji wan left, since I decided that Lily would stay here. I can't let her go anymore.
"Call me if you need me."
Ji wan waves goodbye to me.
Lily and I then go back inside and I returned to working in the fields.
Taeyong went home that day too. He was actually surprised why the house was so clean.
And he saw Lily again. He spent some time with her because he misses her he says.
They roamed around and Lily told him all that happened here while he was on duty.
"So how was work?"
"Eh the usual. This area is actually pretty quiet. I like it here. Less crime. My captain actually told me to lessen my work hours. I've been working too much he says."
"well then you should help me out here then."
