Jason’s POV:
“Alpha, we’ll wake you up if anything changes, so feel free to go home and sleep. It’s possible that Eliza will remain in this condition for a few more days.” The nurse wakes me up for the umpteenth time tonight to check on Liz.
It seems wrong to leave her here by herself. They did this to her while she was just at home, where she should be safe. The attacker’s identity and purpose remain a mystery to me. Was the purpose to end her life? The attacker could return and complete their work since the first attempt failed. I’m not willing to take any more risks. It’s important for me to be there when she wakes up.
“No, thank you, Steffi.” I tell her when she’s done her checkup.
“Alpha, I’ll return in an hour,” she says, departing once more.
