Ten Years Later – PositanoI'm sitting on the beach here in Positano again. So many years have passed and yet I am still drawn inexplicably to this same spot. I didn't check in at Casa Albertina yet; that will come. I needed first to sit on the beach, look at the Mediterranean Sea, and think about Gaia and my life here with her.
Suddenly, Piero appeared at my shoulder.
“Danny! I didn't know you were coming. Will you not be staying at Casa Albertina?”
“Yes, I have a reservation. Didn't Umberto tell you?”
“No,” he said with a chuckle. “I'll have to speak to him about that.”
We looked at each other for an awkward moment, not knowing what to say next. Piero broke the silence.
“Gaia didn't come back, Danny. I would have told you. You believe me, don't you?”
I nodded, but couldn't bring my
