My Journal – July 16, 2004, eveningGaia's in the shower and I'm propped up on her bed writing to you, my journal. Yes, she let me stay in the room while she got ready. Maybe that's progress! We had another great day. We started on the beach, splitting our time equally between sunning and walking. A long splash in the sea cooled us off and rinsed the sweat and beach sand from our skin, and revived us for another hour of tanning. The midday meal was simple. We returned to the same beachside café we had used yesterday. Wine, of course, came first followed by a salad of tomato wedges, mozzarella, and red onions sliced into slivers. A tangy balsamic vinegar and succulent extra virgin olive oil were all that was needed for dressing, and we ate greedily and cleaned our plates. Deep-fried calam
