Diamond in the rough

Alara

"Hey, is something bothering you?" she asked.

"No... Just tired." I lied. To be honest Liam's face never leaves my mind.

I think... I've seen him before. I just don't know when...

His name is also familiar... Liam...

I decided to brush it off and focused on my reality.

While helping some farmers on their things, They invited us to eat with them.

They gave us one bread and one bottle of water. "We're sorry, This is all what we can afford for both of you." Said by the aged farmer. "It's alright. Thank you." Rose said. I smiled at them. I didn't eat the bread and just drink half of the water inside the bottle.

Many Hours have passed, the sun was about to set and we all said goodbye to each other.

"Here, take this." Rose said while handing me half of her bread. "No. I can't take it Rose. It's yours. You should eat it." I said. "Come on, we both know that you need it more than I. Besides, I don't have any grandma to worry about. You have. " She insisted. I sigh and took the bread halfheartedly. "Thank you" I said. Rose just winked at me.

Rose is like a diamond in the rough. She has a golden heart and she is always helping me.

Time passes by, the moon finally took it's place from the sky.

It's been a tiring day for me and I badly want to sleep and know more about Liam.

I reached the bridge and saw many children gathered around my grandma and teasing her. And throwing pebbles at her.

I run towards the scene and shove them all. "Get out of here!" I shouted and throw their pebbles back at them. Maybe I kinda pushed one of them a little hard. That's why the kid hit the ground hard and cried.

I don't regret that. He deserves it.

"Grandma! Are you alright?! " I asked her. She didn't say a word and just hugged me.

I just rub her back. "Where did you go? I was so worried about you. " She said. "Grandma... Don't worry about me.. I can handle my self. " I said. She placed her palms on my cheeks while smiling.

"Grandma... Here, eat this." I said to her.

"How was your day?" she asked me. "It's alright Grandma." I said. "Come on, I can't eat this all. Have some. " she offered me a bread. "It's okay grandma. " I said to her. "I insist. " she said. "Grandma..."

"Come on... Please? " She begged. "Fine. " I said as I took half of the bread.

Grandma slept. And I decided to fall asleep too.

I woke up at the same cliff where I left and Saw Liam sitting on the rock looking at the sky.

"Good morning Alara." He greeted. "Good morning." I said.

"I kinda want to wake you up earlier than this but... Watching you drool and hearing your loud snore while sleeping is better." He laughs at his own joke. I was surprised at his sudden behavior.

He clears his throat and from a playful voice, it turns cold, serious and raspy one.

"When you're gone I explore this place a little bit and I discovered something... Want to come and see it with me?" He asked "Sure why not?" I said to him. Then he start taking off his shirt.
