“Then those people around you are the members of this congregation?”
“Maybe, but I don’t know them. This is not the whole congregation, only a small group. The priest said that they are warriors who fight with prayers. I see their mouths are moving. They’re praying for the boy.”
“Why do they need to pray for him?”
“Because there is a familiar spirit living in him,” came the straight answer from Josh.
“How do you know that? You said before that was a bird-man.”
“It’s the same. The familiar spirit is some kind of spiritual being that travels from generation to generation, nesting in the human body. The priest explained it to me before.”
“So is this a ghost? Like in the movies?”
“Maybe. I don’t know. Many say it’s a demon.”
